Do you want to make sure the Db level is above 130 when bama has the ball?

Bring a cheap megaphone like this and use it.

According to this site the highest Db level ever recorded at college football game was 133.6 at Husky Stadium. Tiger Stadium is 3rd at 130.0 behind Clemson at 132.8.

If you forget to purchase a megaphone just break out the bottom of a jumbo cup and yell through it.

The point is, the more direct you can make your sound waves the greater impact on the field and cheap megaphones can really make things louder on the field.

And maybe you can sneak in some air horns and use them on very selective plays. Just don't get caught.

They should make a video of Devin White doing that arm gesture the D does calling for "make noise" and play that on the video screen for each Bama offensive play. White gets to help the D anyway

LSU should ditch towels and Pom Poms and hand out small megaphones instead

I always put my hands around the sides of my mouth when I yell and about 3 seconds before I think they are going to snap it I yell HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY! as loud as possible. Always point your mouth directly at the QB as well.

Also, when the QB is calling an audible, HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY

They have overhangs specifically dedicated to bounce noise (and also rain). But I doubt its actually sustained like Tiger Stadium. I've been to big games in many big stadiums and the closest I've seen is the swamp in terms of shake your chest noise. But Tiger Stadium has an extra gear that no other stadium has and has more endurance. That comes from the people.

GumbowPot, this is a great idea! we need to get this thing going and maybe a major company will sponsor it with their logo and LSU can pass them out before tha game while entering the stadium.

get it on social media etc

That fine. But when we make noise I want to make sure it's effective. A megaphone helps in that regard.

We need to get in the 130 level. It is easier to get into the 130 level with cheap megaphones than without them.

100% agree.

Towels and pom poms dampen sound. They are actually hurtful to the goal of disturbing the opposing team with mechanical sound waves.

Any idea what they would cost? I would imagine its pennies on the dollar.

You are right, the geometry of the stadium is the biggest factor. Another factor is their weather. Cool humid air is a good medium to transmit sound waves. Washington has that.

The link I provided in the OP is to Walmart. $6.97 for a pretty decent megaphone and cheap enough if you lose it no big deal.

It's due to the architecture and acoustics of the stadium

Honestly, if you buy a bottle of water and put some coins in it once it's empty and shake it while yelling with the top on, that would be louder.

Yelling into a megaphone prevents you from clapping and you're only yelling.

The bottle/coin trick is louder than clapping and you can yell at the same time.

Great idea.

Lets come up with more.
