Do you think Mason Taylor missing the game cause Jayden Daniels to throw down field?

Mason Taylor is Daniels go to guy every game that he feels comfortable with. Taylor missing the game and Daniels not being able to rely on him, do you think that made Daniels scan the field more or is this the light bulb moment for him that we all have been waiting for?

No MSU game plan was to take away the short passes so we went deep.

When I hear Mason Taylor, I think Mason Smith. This totally screwed me up

Well, I hope everybody else we play takes away the short pass because I love seeing Daniels throw the ball down field!

Ehh, they played a shell coverage that kept everything in from of them and tested our patience - we didn’t start taking shots until we got Nabors in one on one coverage. The first 10 or so passes were all underneath.

No. Miss State’s coaches were hard headed and put Malik one on one a great deal of the time. It’s not hard to figure out what needs to be done.

don’t get the downvotes. I don’t think it affected Jayden, but I do think it impacted how Denbroc called it.

I guarantee it did.

Nabers played the slot and was guarded in the first half by the MSU safety. JD recognized the mismatch and exploited it. MSU adjusted and put a corner on Nabers and BTJ was covered by the safety and JD started giving BTJ more attention.

Obviously Denbrock recognized this in the film room and applied the passing game plan to JD and JD did a great job of executing it.

Taylor does not attract that much attention. Look at the targets /game. He was staying in to block a lot.
I’ve not seen 1 seam route like I was expecting. He should be killing LBs.

They dropped their LBs a good bit to cover the short/intermediate routes and take that away so he pretty much had to throw it deep. He’s got a great arm it’s amazing that he doesn’t want to use it more.

This. The drag route across the middle was open all night. Their LB’s were dropping deeper as the play went on. Daniels was getting good protection all night.

Need him back for blocking as well… you can see how much our run game is hurting without him.

Nooo, pass blocking was awesome. If the O line gives Jayden time to throw, he will scan the field and throw.
