If he went out there and consistently threw 215 yards and 1 TDS a game every game I’d say yeah that’s his ceiling.

But if you watch him play you can see he can play at a really high and really low level. So I will always say his ceiling is playing at that high level all the time.

Will he reach his ceiling? Idk

in the 4 game stretch between Tennessee and Alabama he averaged 269.7 yards passing 74.5 yards rushing and 3.76 TDS a game.

That’s 3212.4 passing 894 yards rushing and 45 TDS over a 12 game season.

Would you take 4000 yards and 45 TDS? I would.

So you’re throwing out his best year?

He is who he is. He has never changed over his whole career. Guys in here who think he’ll change just have hopeful thinking.

His best passing year was his freshman year and it isn’t close.

Of course I would. But I think just using the law of averages for Daniels, he's not going to be that type of guy for us.

If he's not at his ceiling, he's damn near it.

A whole off-season can improve on chemistry with pass catchers. Can it make him see open receivers or be less tentative when throwing?

No. I expect him to improve AGAIN.

I can't wait for the melt here too when he does.

Didn’t say he would equal Burrow next year but he can and likely will be much improved in year two. Now it’s way past time to stop all the negative posts like this which was clearly designed for others to sling shite at Daniels.

I don't think so. No reason he can't take a big step forward. But if he doesn't, I'm confident that with our OL continuing to improve, and hopefully with some consistent production from a RB or 2, we can go with someone else and not have to go with him as the safe option. He was just what the 2022 team needed. Excited to see how the QB race shakes out in the spring.

Why do you pose the question?
What is it that makes you think he has hit his "ceiling" ?
Performance at QB in any given year is a product of a lot of other, moving parts.
How good is the coaching? How good is the OL at pass protection; is there an elite RB to keep the defense honest? How talented and how experienced are the WR's? Is it a new system? Or have the WR's, QBs and OL had time to fully understand and master the offensive scheme of this HC and OC? These things change year to year in many cases.
You are asking the wrong question.

I just can't see Nussmeier staying if Daniels is the starter again; which he will be so I don't think Nussmeier will be here next season.

If he can't beat out Daniels, who everyone seems to now think is deeply mediocre, what does that say about Nuss?

Why are you applying law of averages to ceiling?

I'm asking a question, guy. I'm not slinging shite at him.

Because he doesn't have a year where his statistics have jumped up as a passer. He has consistently stayed in the 2500 yards/year range through four years of starting. He's never once gotten over 3000 yards passing in a single season. So if he's stayed the same his entire career, wouldn't you pretty much consider that to be his ceiling as well?

Idk
Joe seemed to figure it out his last year

Let’s hope Daniels has a similar improvement

He’s had a very messy career coach wise. I could certainly see him improving in year 2 with Kelly/Denbrook
