Love the guy! He's a class act and considering what he took over, he's done a tremendous job. He also realizes there is still a lot of work ahead to get LSU to consistently at that elite level.

I thought he would be exactly what LSU needed to overcome Saban. Based on what I’ve seen so far this year, I not sure he’s the right man. The talent he has brought in is not the caliber LSU needs to run with Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma or Texas A & M. Football next year will be much harder for LSU because they don’t have the money and resources it takes to run with those teams. The era of really big boy football is about to begin. There will be 3 or 4 teams that are elite and the rest will just exist to win 8 or 9 games a year.

Mediocre recruiter
I feel like he leans way too hard on Louisiana kids who have grown up wanting to come here all their lives. Those kids really don't have to be recruited very hard because they just grew up loving LSU and its a dream come true to get an offer from this program.

Yes, our tigers beat Bama in Coach Kelly’s first year in spite of poor ST’s play all year long. Coach Kelly is very much into discipline which our team has needed to be in place for many years. Coach Kelly holds coaches and players responsible for their behavior on and off the playing field and is concerned with the players academic progress including graduation rates of the LSU student/players.
Kelly is a manager, analyst, innovator supporter ( eg. air conditioned headgear), training aides booster, statistical analysis, strength and conditioning supporter, cheerleader of sorts. I expect Coach to continue to demand alignment for the betterment of the LSU community, fan base including alumni.
Coach Kelly supports the NIL initiative and attends other sports venues around the country in support of LSU teams. I see no apparent negatives about this fine Coach.

He would be a perfect hire if he hired better recruiters on staff. As he isn’t even a good recruiter. At least make up for his deficiency.
Weird not having this at LSU honestly for the last three coaches have at least been this.

Yes, a professional coach. How about you? Do you like Brian Kelly as a coach?
Posted on 9/28/23 at 8:42 pm to CatsGoneWild
No, I like him as a person. Such a charismatic and charming guy.

I know the fact that these people on here think he can’t recruit is just stupid!

And he might overtake Saban by years end. This statement is actually absurd
To be clear. Saban is the GOAT
What I meant is, Saban is nearing the end of his career and by seasons end, BL might be the second best in the SEC AT THAT TIME. Not all time.
Nick will have tie title as best ever for a very long time

He’s not lmao he is getting better players here ! Those are facts ! Look at all the new guys playing as freshman some of you people just want just want a southern accented coach dude has won everywhere he has been

Stupid comment. I’m sure you thought O was a great fit, right?

He can’t proof has been for the last twenty years. He isn’t a good recruiter, it’s showing up here now. Our last three coaches proved all you have to be is a good recruiter here to win a championship, recruiting stellar classes overcomes coaching and makes up for coaching deficiencies.
If you want to say well there not spending what some other schools are then there is a reason for that Ed Oregerons buyout is too much to overcome and this falls on Woodward giving out outlandish contracts that nobody else in the country would give out.. LSU has been spending money on recruits all you have to do is look at our recruiting the last 25 years

Based upon public speaking, no doubt. But results matter. Hoping he surpasses all prior coaches on results.

Love him.
He doesn’t speak doofus like Les and isn’t a knuckle dragging dipshit who thinks you can pep yell a championship team like Orgeron

He pulled top 10 classes at a Catholic school with much more stringent academic requirements and less administrative support (e.g. facilities etc.) than he has at LSU.

In what way do you think this is “showing up here now”?
He managed to pull a #7 overall class in a transition year largely because of a fantastic haul from the transfer portal. I don’t know what more you could have hoped for after back-to-back .500 seasons and a fired head coach.
He had the #6 HS class and #5 overall class in his first real cycle. Which is.. about where we were under Orgeron, except we haven’t seen half of his HS recruits transfer or get kicked off the team.
We had 3 true freshmen starters in the 2022 class, plus something like 7 transfers that came in and started. We have at least one true freshman starter in the 2023 class, with possibly up to 4 more depending how it all plays out. Another 4-5 transfers who are starters.
So I’m a bit dumbfounded by your assertion that it’s “showing up here now.” The only thing I can imagine is that you’re looking at the 2024 class because it’s currently ranked #10. If so..
I’m not saying I think Brian Kelly is some kind of recruiting phenom. But to criticize his recruiting at this point feels extremely short-sighted and reactionary.

He’s a bad mo fo.
Anyone who thinks otherwise, …well, youre welcome to your stupid opinion.

The recruits that were signed a lot of them already had previous relationships with the staff from their previous schools they recruited for. Now that they are focusing on different areas for recruiting and you see those relationships are gone and they aren’t securing commitments from big time star gazing prospects they are going after. Look I wish more than anything we could see better recruiting out of this staff, for I absolutely love the recruiting aspect but we are losing all the big showdowns with top prospects. We aren’t gonna win many championships doing this we need those freaks on the team.
If you want to give Brian Kelly more time for you to form a rash opinion that’s cool I’m not judging I am just reading the tea leaves and unless he changes up his philosophy and fires some coaches and starts to bid high with these other schools, he isn’t winning a title here, just my opinion of course
I just read your post, I mean yea it’s jumping the gun but it’s a hot take an open for criticism I wouldn’t be talking about it in a couple years if his recruiting is obviously bad, because everyone would have already seen it over that time..
