Some schools will just buy the best players out from under you if that is what they need, they will back the truck up. I just Hope Kelly plays the same game because we have holes that need to be filled on this roster.

The NIL Wild West shite should scare the hell out of LSU fans. LSU will have a very hard time keeping up with some of the big money schools. Tradition, championships, development will lose out to the ridiculous money that’s being thrown around. I don’t think Kelly or anybody else will be able to keep up.

Took over a complete cluster. I’ll take him over anyone’s else’s name they through out.
If you follow anywhere else he’s been, that’s what he does. Builds the program. They have about 4-5 coaches that can do what he’s done. Only a matter of time!

Explain to me the “vast improvements” from the previous two? Lol Because I don’t see many.

You don't think he's a vast improvement from Orgeron as a head coach? 2019 was 1 of 1 but Orgeron showed who he was in 20 and 21 and it was a disaster.

Saban’s season openers at LSU…
Western Carolina
Tulane
@Virginia Tech (lost 26-8)
ULM
Oregon St (won 22-21 at home…fortunate to do so)
Not exactly apples to apples.

I agree that Kelly has been a great program builder. Trying to build a program with NIL and the current transfer portal is a different animal than anything Kelly is accustomed to.

Orgeron’s 2019 season was probably the best college football team in history. Gonna take a Herculean effort by Kelly to even come close to that.

He needs to stop recruiting like he’s at ND or he’ll never win a championship here. Losing too much Louisiana talent

To this young generation of players, money talks and tradition comes in a distant second. I don’t expect LSU to be able to fence in Louisiana players like we always have in the past. NIL has changed the game.

I do not. He was a smug guy at ND and although he appears to have chilled out a bit since coming here, he’s still not likeable nor a top tier coach.

DV away but remember this post when we lose another 3-4 games

For the record, I hope we win every game by 100 with CBK at the helm. Plus, why should be coaches be well liked. They are paid for their alleged expertise, not their personality.

Saban was equally as smug yet he’s still tGOAT

+1. Yes.
Likes: Smart football coach who makes in-game adjustments. Players coach. Gets the most of out of his players. Preaches competing for national championship every day. The hell w "the process." Get 'er done!

Dislikes: Sometimes appears to out-smart himself. Did good going for 2 against Bama. That was the right call. Missed opportunity against FSU in 2022 to win game by NOT going for 2 points. Calling timeouts against Arky when all he had to do was take a knee for 3 downs. Will struggle again in 2024 in opener if he doesn't get the team focused G1 and the proper personnel on the field executing at high level. Maybe 3rd time will be charm!

Best coach we've had since Saban. Only dislike I have is his recruiting rankings but even then he's had like 4 true freshman already this year playing great

It is completely unrealistic to hold him the standard of that season. It was perfect in every way and something we probably will never see again.

Different times. All you have to do is pay for talent now.

Pros:
*Great program manager.
*He seems to be structured/detailed.

Cons:
*Recruiting
*Assembled a mediocre defensive staff.

Yes except coordinator hires were never great. Additionally not sure he is the consummate closer in recruiting.

So far pleased with overall program stability and culture he has implemented. I know he is still implementing improvements from a program all time low when he took over. More to come I'm sure.

Well even before NIL was a thing I always thought it was silly to have a “fence” around LA.

You want the best players on your roster regardless of what state they are from.

I may have been in the minority with that opinion about keeping in state talent, but nonetheless it doesn’t matter anymore with NIL.

He’s the kind of coach I would hire. My only problem with him was he was a little older than I would have liked.

He took in a top 10 class with freshman making impacts both years. Idk why this narrative keeps getting pushed that he can’t recruit

Because this is the rant and if every class isn’t #1 and every freshman doesn’t make an immediate impact, it’s the end of the program as we know it.
