Im not arguing Lee was an All American, but... below average QB's dont make NFL teams. Just sayin.. Nor do they "manage" thier team to a 9-0 record, especially playing the tough schedule LSU had last season. Just sayin...
Josh Booty made an NFL team so did Craig Nall....Just sayin...

I don't think he sucks, but do believe that he handled the QB situation last year up to the very end with stupidity & ignorance. He has shown only flashes of being unknowing in the past, but exhibited it for the duration of the last half of last season. I'll never forget that.
It reminds me of what Mack Brown did to Applewhite once Sims arrived. I love Austin, respect UT as a university, but will hate UT football as long as Mack is there.

I think the main problem with people being so sensitive is the fact that people act as if Miles is the only coach in the history of college football that makes these sort of mistakes.
Yet, like PeeJ is doing, acting like Saban is infallible. ....and that's just not fair. The jealousy and scorn of him leaving still upsets these types.

Agreed, but at the same time, don't forget to give him credit for finishing with an SEC Champ. and an undefeated regular season with a disaster at QB.
That says alot about his ability to coach.

I just love how this stuff is tossed out and swallowed whole with no questions asked. So lets do Miles first...ya'll claim"he's not the "winning program builder that Saban is"...and you know this how? By my count he's tried to build a program from scratch exactly ONCE and by most accounts did a pretty fair job of it at what was a pretty crappy football school at the time.
Saban? Well he left the Spartans better off than he found them...but sustainable national powerhouse? Not so much. LSU and Bama? It's not like he went to Tulane and SMU and turned them into national champs. He came into two schools that were underachieving given their resources, histories and natural advantages and in Bama's case simply returned them to what they've been before and in LSU's case tweaked the right things to allow us to optimize the program. So, great coach? Absolutely. Head and shoulders a better "program builder" than CLM? Total conjecture.
This x1000. Ok St was arguably worse off than Mich St. Either way, the programs were comparable. At least Miles went to the Cotton Bowl and that other guy went to the Weedeater Bowl and got his arse beat by Dinardo (both in their first year of their respective program). I don't know how a lot of folks forget this.
The reality is both are great coaches but one seems to get a pass for all kinds of stuff while the other guy doesn't.

Les is a great coach but I think Satan is a better game day coach!

Les does a MUCH better job of beating teams he's supposed to beat......can't argue that.
Saban had a tendency to lose games (at LSU) that he never should have.
LSU is lucky to have Miles

This...
les miles is the only coach in history to get regularly criticized for two wins...the auburn and Tenn games...Auburn was a great gutsy call that worked but ESPN's highlights made it seem like the wrong decision and the sheep tards only remember that...
The Tenn game was a dumpster fire BUT we won so who cares how badly it was handled...
meanwhile the infallible Saban gets total passes for awful losses...UAB, Iowa in the CAP 1 bowl etc...it makes no sense

Sometimes, sometimes not. Nov. 2011- Miles was the better coach, not so much on 1/9.
Miles coached as well as anyone could have done against Florida in 07. Made all the right calls and knew when to go against conventional wisdom, as just one example of excellent game day coaching. And just look at the number of blowout wins against some highly ranked teams, like Va. Tech, Ohio State.
Saban's coaching against USCe was puzzling to say the least in 2009, not to mention ULM, UAB, Arkansas in 02, and Iowa. There are other examples as well, but he got lucky and won anyway or just out-talented the other team. This isn't a slam, but just pointing out that Saban has his share of missteps as well.
One can cherry pick bad games on both coaches resumes. But they are two of the best coaches in college football's recent history, without doubt.
Miles' doubters will simply not look at the record, which despite his flaws, puts Miles in rare and elite company. You don't produce the best record in LSU history, and one of the top records in the history of the SEC, without being a good coach. Name one other coach with a comparable record who isn't regarded as a great coach.

13-1, 9-0, and #2 in the nation equates to a "stupidity & ignorance"???

LSU gained more yds and scored as many points from the the 1st Bama game though Ga, while we played the #1 and #3 D's in college football, as it did from game 1-8 when we played one D ranked in the Top 25.
The idea the LSU offense fell apart or didn't produce when a QB change was made is little more than a sports forum myth.

100% correct.
LSU had 3 games out of 14 last year where QB play was less than superb, all against top 5 defenses.
The first, 11/5, Miles made a change after his starter proved incapable and the backup steadied the ship enough to get us to a W on the road against the #2 team and #1 D in the country in the NINTH game of the year. That was the first time all season that our O was slowed down and our QB play looked shaky.
Miles then did exactly what the haters are now saying he should have done, switched QBs to prepare for the great D we were likely to face in ATL, although at the time the rantards claimed he should have gone back to the starter who couldn't get the job done on 11/5.
Only after nine months have gone by, and we see a new QB doing well, after nine months of practice as the starter, do the rantards change position and say Miles SHOULD have changed QBs, but CLEARLY he should have gone with the guy on campus less than year after contributing NOTHING to the 13-0 SEC Championship season.
The second bad game was in the conference championship game. QB play was AWFUL, but we still won by 30.
The final and most devestating performance came in the final game of the season unfortunately. Against a team we should never have had to play again in an unprecedented rematch.
Miles stayed with the QB that got the win the first time, instead of the QB who had struggled awfully in every career game against that team and coach, except for one game SAVING, not WINNING, pass in 2010 after the player he chose to start secured a lead before being injured going into the final possession.
He also did not choose the young, inexperienced yet talented 3rd string QB whose most competitive snap against an SEC school was a bootleg against possibly the worst BCS school on the country with a 40 point lead.
And he is an idiot.
Long live the Rant.

You know, it's really a shame that this question is asked. Not a hack on OP, there is that segment. Just a shame that this is actually discussed.
