I’d much rather an NFL size stadium (60-80k) and more comfort, etc.
I think the experience overall would be better as well.

Downsizing to lessen traffic
You can’t be serious. LSU doesn’t give a rats arse about how long you sit in traffic

I think the downsizing strategy would be to add more premium spaces to ensure there isn't lost revenue. Most likely this would result in higher revenue in both tickets and F&B.

I see a possibility of them rearranging the seating to have wider spacing and bigger seats lowering the overall total capacity to kind of match the actual attendance in more games. I also see that including additional suites/special seating arrangements in lieu of more traditional seating at a premium price, of course.
So here’s the problem, as I see it, for the athletic department when it comes to overall capacity:
The lower bowl is sometimes full. The east/west uppers are never (or at least rarely) full. Any capacity reduction in the lower bowl - for example, putting chair backs everywhere - pushes some amount of fans into the seats that nobody wants.
So if they were to add chairbacks, space seats out more, etc. in the older parts of the stadium, that would certainly bring capacity more in line with average attendance. But would they still be able to get 85-90k people to attend if there were 10k fewer seats in the lower bowl? Or would they just have 10k fewer people in attendance?
I realize that there were empty seats in the lower bowl as well but presumably most of those seats are at least sold, which is what matters most to the AD.
The south endzone “skyline club” was actually pretty cool when it first opened (albeit, largely because it was one of the only places you could get beer at the time). I’ve heard the quality has kind of gone to shite up there.. no idea if that’s accurate or not because it’s been a few years since I’ve sat there. But if I’m in the AD, that’s what I’m looking at - what can we do with the east/west uppers to make those seats remotely worth buying?
I think any reduction in the lower bowl becomes counterproductive unless/until they figure that out.

I would love to see the capacity reduced to 68,500. I think this was how much the stadium held before the WSUD was added in the 1970’s. The stadium experience was much better then.

They just need to build a new stadium somewhere out on River Rd
Tiger Stadium is too big to fail. You don’t just abandon a legendary college football cathedral like that.

No, but Tiger Stadium should renovate the upper sidelines into what the upper South is like. Then put comfortable seatbacks in the entire lower bowl. Capacity probably drops by 10K but stadium is much better. Improve restrooms and concession areas.

I do not see it downsizing and no, I don’t think I’d pay more per ticket.

They need to. Our fans are too fat to fit in the designated seat.
Should probably take 4 seats off each row and expand seat size

Do you foresee Tiger Stadium downsizing
Heck no
This question should not be asked.
Ask...why are we struggling to fill TS when the fan base is as passionate as any in the country?
Other big schools have no problems filling 105k...
Figure it out...
I've touched on it in other threads
The issues are fixable..
But its a radical commitment to be #1 at everything...
TS surroundings aren't nearly what they could be
Its time stop investing in the football program with upgrades...and pour money into the institution...
Development needs to happen around TS for an upgrade in fan and student experience!!!!
Its time to upgrade this...not the locker room...
Strive for the best university....
And fan game day experience...
Way more time is spent outside the stadium...spend accordingly

Let the visiting fans buy those crappy seats and reallocate the better seats to season ticket holders, would be a good place to start. Spread them out along the top rows like the other schools do to us and stop giving them so much space in the lower bowl.

What exactly are you asking for? Ban DJs/ban LEDs/$2 hotdogs/pristine restrooms/chairbacks in every seat/have the band play music for 3.5 hours?
That's a REAL good start. Also make the seats wider to accommodate all of the fat-asses.

Only piss pour programs like ULL, Kentucky and Vanderbilt downsize their stadiums! Shut up!

I would love to see each seat get 4 more inch's and we downsize

No but i sure hope this post gets downvoted. What a stupid post

Is there a park and ride in Baton Rouge on game day like some other college towns?
Posted on 9/25/23 at 8:28 pm to HoopyD
I could see them “resizing” the allotted space for seats, but not making any physical changes. That would allow the stadium to still appear full but create a better overall experience for the average fan, especially when it is 100° for the first 4 games. Less pressure on the facility, better pricing power. Just a thought but the days of putting 100k butts in the seats are behind us.
