Innocent until proven otherwise is the way I feel about the crime. Keeping a scholarship at a major university may be another issue altogether.
The facts and circumstances will determine how he is evaluated.

With Emery returning (and he’s healthy), we may not need him.

Ssounds like the police are trying to leverage the situation to help them.
Hold it hostage to get results.

Well for the kid’s sake , if he is is innocent in which I believe he is after hearing the stories told about the shooting . I hope he gets to play football again no matter if it’s with LSU or not .

While the grand jury did not indict him on murder charges, he still is charged with a felony. Kelly is not going to play anyone with that level of charges pending…even if it is just to avoid bad PR.
If those charges are dropped (which seems unlikely because if that were the path it likely would have already been done) he will play. If not, the best case scenario is they get reduced to a misdemeanor in exchange for a guilty plea. He would almost assuredly miss some games for a suspension, but not the whole season.

No, but I think Kaleb Jackson will literally kill someone with a head on collision.
If he doesn’t get the lion’s share of carries this year, we frickin riot.

That's true. The Tigers can only wait and see how the court decides this.
Does anyone know if Holly was able to finish the spring semester before he was initially arrested and charged?
I am hoping if he does have to miss the 2024 season, that Trey can return and help the team in 2025, hopefully with all this mess behind him.

Nope. Louisiana incompetence in the judicial system resulted in the judge recusing himself months late and thus delaying the proceedings.
DA would’ve dropped charges by now if he felt it was an unjust charge, IMO.
We are going to have to wait for the tortoise wheels of Justice to work on this one.

No. The two guys with him cut deals from what I’m hearing. There is a good possibility those deals involve providing additional info on Holly. Interesting side not, one of the other guys is going to play ball a Louisiana Christian U. In Pineville.

He was arrested (turned himself in when the warrant was issued) in February and bonded out right after. I don’t know why he wouldn’t have finished the spring semester.

Don't think school was a priority at that point

Hey! Anyone else bidding on that bridge?
I hope he does well, just don't know where.

So you think he’s just been sitting around in Farmerville since February?
I find that pretty hard to believe.

I thought his trial wasn’t until 2025. What’s this about?
Looks like he had a court date set for 7/3 that I guess got pushed to the 17th. Sounds like his attorney is trying to speed things up & find out what evidence they have on Holly.
Maybe there is a chance the charges get dropped before September.
quote:
Holly’s attorney, Mike Small, expects the former Union Parish football star to be cleared of criminal charges.
“I’m very confident based upon my interviews with my client that he will be exonerated, I feel very strongly about that,” Small said.
In a Union Parish courtroom, Holly pleaded not guilty to the charge of illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrumentality. He was facing attempted second-degree murder, but a Union Parish Grand Jury rejected that charge.
LSU coach Brian Kelly expressed optimism earlier this month that Holly’s legal issues could be wrapped up soon.
Small says he might be able to speed up the legal proceedings based on the prosecution’s evidence.
“There could very well be an avenue and that will depend to a great extent on what is turned over to me by the prosecution,” Small said.
Small has requested to see the evidence the prosecution has against his client. He expects to get that information in two to four weeks and at that time he could provide more details on why he believes Holly is not guilty.
“I’m very hopeful that once we get the responses to those motions the prosecution and I can have some realistic discussions about what I believe to be the facts of this case,” Small said.
