re: Do the strength and conditioning coaches try to get Daniels to bulk up some?

I can't see having more lean muscle and strength hindering him in any way

Might make him a tougher runner.

Will this help not take 43 sacks next year?

Meh he’s pretty close to Lamar Jackson’s specs. I think he’s good to go and just needs to continue building chemistry with receivers in offseason.

Y’all act like your dealing with a freshmen qb in Daniels, he’s a 5th year guy he is who he is

He’s been in college for 4 full seasons - he isn’t getting any bigger than what he is now
What? You think a 6’3” 200 lbs 22 year old can’t get bigger?
It’s more about how much weight while maintaining speed and quickness.
After 4 years and weight coming out of high school I am not sure how much muscle/strength alone can help get more into throws across the field at this point. That may need to come from refining throwing motion with feet and hips to get get most into from different positions and angles inside pocket and outside the pocket while throwing to different parts of the field and the practice to know this instinctively.
I think a lot of what is called off-platform throws can be too risky and showing off (some throws are only in realm of being natural for people like Mahomes or Allen), but a qb can’t always have feet set perfectly to throw downfield or make quick throws when receiver is open. For a running qb Daniels doesn’t seem to like to throw downfield on the move or on the run. Dropping back he at times gets stuck between not confident to pull the trigger on a throw early to a spot the receiver will be open and then not able to still have feet set to make throw once he feels more comfortable receiver is open. He can shift around in the pocket and keep feet basically set under him for a little while, but once he once has to cross legs over or run a little it just becomes a run most times.
Whatever he can do to expand the throws he can make and/or feel confident he can make is what needs to happen. Outside of designed runs he should be looking to throw until he crosses line of scrimmage.

quote:why? He ran a lot this year and his only real injury was an ankle, which has nothing to do with bulk.
I think he could benefit both as a college player and as a potential pro if he could pack on some more muscle

Hopefully he's fed cheeseburgers everyday until opening game so we can finally see JD Madden truck stick some people like Newton use to.

Hire JaMarcus Russell as his personal trainer and dietician. That'll work out well.
