You should thank him and me and other fans that show up.
Thanks for your continued attendance.

I like how say that like I'm supposed to take it as a dig at my fandom.

You took it correctly.
Just as you sarcastically commended his attending games.
Tailgates are awesome.
The game is why I'm tailgating.
I leave the tailgate and go to the game.
I support the team by doing so. I support the adult beverage manufacturers before and after.

We know a couple who attend nearly every Bama tailgate prior to home games and have NEVER attended a game. Don't even like college football but enjoy hanging out with their friends.

True. I'm more interested in the game than the gameday atmosphere. Therefore, I don't normally go to the game.

I'm glad about that too.
But acting like someone is less of a fan because they would rather watch the game on TV than go to the game is ridiculous.

It's far from ridiculous.
People that don't go or leave early are not supporting the team as much as those that attend and stay to the end.
Period.
There are a ton of reasons for that, some valid , some complete BS.
But a dude that prefers tailgating more than attending the game is not as much of a fan of LSU Football as someone who attends the game and even, perish the thought, leaves a good party to do it.
Not sure how this is debatable.
And the individuals that are the most critical are the people that take shots at "super fans". I've read many a thread on here with the casual fan telling the die- hard that he's not a better fan...makes no sense to me.
If you buy that argument, good for you!
Support of the team during the game takes place in the stadium.
Enjoying the game at home or on a tv is fine....but if you have the option of being at the game and decide not to go, then you are not as dedicated a fan as someone who chooses to attend.

I go to all the games, but I may only tailgate once or twice a year. I would absolutely love to tailgate for every game though, and then eventually close up shop and head to the game.

Id assume when you have 100-300k people tailgating. not all of them can go to the game. my parents just tailgate now. they may go to one game, but my dad is usually bitchin about being tired and wanting to go home by the time night games roll around.

So you go to the game to help the team.
BS, you go to the game because you enjoy being there.
I feel like I miss out on stuff by being at the game. So I would rather be in front of a tv.
So go ahead and go to the game and do the wave, superfan.

I go to support the team and because I enjoy the experience...win win.
You don't go because you like your AC, beer, Lazyboy, bathroom, kitchen and nap more than you like LSU football. You put your comfort first.
I record the game and watch it again later in the week. Best of both worlds, although my view of the game provides me a satisfactory experience.
Enjoy your sofa and pass the dip, lazy fan.

You enjoy football your way, and I will enjoy it mine.
Now kindly, go frick yourself.

You are obviously free to enjoy LSU football however you are most comfortable, ole chap.
I'm sure you are quite the dedicated fan, as all fans are that present your defense....I mean, viewpoint. Hahahahhaha
GEAUX TIGERS!
Dot forget to put the seat down...hahahaha

most of the time ....

Without the game, there would be no tailgate parties. Maybe I'm just old but to me, supporting the team is going to the stadium, watching and cheering on the team...NOT sitting outside so I can drink more. You can do that sitting in your living room. We look forward to the start of football season and then get 7 or 8 games a year in Tiger Stadium. Yet many of you would rather sit outside. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Eating way too much and getting drunk are very important to a lot of Louisianians. Add to that the snob appeal of strutting around the break room on Monday telling everybody that you were "at the game", and you have a perfect storm for the tailgate fan.
