I think the all whites are pretty sweet.

We're not Oregon whose gimmick is a different uniform every game

True. But you know the players like to change it up a few times a year. We play at least 13 games almost every year now. I think either 10 GWG, 2 GPG, and 1 alternate (we should only have variations of 2 alternates--WPW or WWW) would be a good compromise. Or maybe 9 GWG, 2 GPG, and 2 alternates.

quote:

It's LSU, it's classic and traditional.

This is key. LSU has done a great job over the last 100 years taking some of our great and unique traditions, embracing them, and having them become part of the LSU brand. The GWG uniforms, the painting of the sideline #s every 5 yards instead of every 10, the H goalposts instead of the Y, night games in Tiger Stadium, etc...(I know there's mixed feeling on the "eye of the tiger" midfield logo because it's relatively new, but I think it looks pretty cool and was great marketing--it's extremely unique relative to other stadium's generic logos and is immediately recognizable).

And that's the key to embracing the traditions. Not just for tradition's sake alone, it's part of the marketing of the LSU brand. People (non LSU fans) need to be able to flip on ESPN or ABC now, and immediately be able to tell it's LSU playing. Wearing a ton of alternates hurts that a bit. However, there is a balance. Players get bored wearing GWG every single Saturday. They like the alternates. Just look at all the social media pics that recruits put up after a visit--very few (if any) are wearing the traditional GWG, they're all wearing alternates. Now maybe that's an LSU thing--you don't get to wear our traditional unis unless you actually come here. Still, kids love changing it up every now and again.

So I think 10 + 3 (2+1) or 9 + 4 (2 +2) is compromise in a typical 13-game season. But all big regular season games that will attract a lot of eyeballs should be in the traditionals, as should all playoff games in the years we make it.

I love the white jerseys. It's a classic look that need not be deviated from.

HOWEVER. When we do wear the purple, I'm tired of them messing with the classic gold helmet, purple jersey, and, gold pants.

the white helmet, purple jersey, and white pants combo kills me.

Anyone that says they prefer purple simply has no clue

The answer is white. There’s really good reason for this…well documented history

Stop with normalizing purple, especially the LSU ‘fans’. It’s actually completely weird to me that this seems to be a thing/conversation with increasing frequency

We 100% should be wearing them against UCLA this year.

I’m ok with white vs sissy blue for UCLA

The players must really like this combo. A bunch of the recruit photos are in this combo.

I am not a big fan of W/P/W. I rather G/P/G.

The helmet needs to be gold

Still wish they would wear those Nike combat jersey’s that were worn against Arkansas & Auburn in 09 & 11 again.

white

also I like the w/p/w combo but I dont like that it’s completely replaces g/p/g which is a classic look still.

That’s stupid that the ncaa mandated colored uniforms. If it’s early season and I’m in the bottom of Louisiana, I’d rather not wear purple jerseys

Is the heat the reason LSU played so many night games?

I wouldn’t be mad to see purple jerseys more often, but there’s just something about the white shirts. I always thought they looked great.
