Experience. He likely won’t start game 1.

It's honestly not a bad idea but probably not how it will end up since Delane is their best CB on the roster right now. People in here probably don't understand what you mean by this but it's likely the best approach against Clemson's WRs. I don't think they're ready to trust Pickett on an island by himself on the corners in such a big game 1.

This mindset has got to stop. Do you not remember Stingley starting day 1 ? It is a different era; elite freshmen play right away now. Yes, he is a true freshman, but I'm sure the staff trusts a 6'4 corner who runs a 4.3 to handle himself on an island. If the staff trusted Sage fricking Ryan and Duce Chestnut against Keon Coleman 2 years ago, why tf wouldn't you trust the 5-star no.1 cb in the country? Play the best the seniority mindset is lame

It's that level of athleticism that has been missing in recent years among LSU defensive backs.

Stingley is not the norm in such a big game. You're comparing him to one of LSU's biggest freak CBs in their history. Can he get there? Sure. He has the freak talent but not everyone is linear at how fast they develop. There has been plenty of reports Pickett gets beat as well as make the plays like see above. Maybe he'd settle in the next few weeks. Stingley was glue the first day he stepped on campus and everyone saw it. That's extremely rare even in this new era.
Not saying Pickett can't be there day 1 he definitely has the talent. Just saying by practice reports I doubt they trust him by himself right now against an elite WR group. Pickett out there day 1 on the corners very likely signifies LSU's hand on defense which would be man coverage because I doubt they trust a true freshman day 1 in zone.

This is easily the best secondary we’ve had in a very long time,
Definitely has the potential

arguably just as good if not better than some of the secondaries from Miles’ teams.
Let’s chill the frick out and let them play at least one game before declaring this.

No I think Delane excels in any CB spot. So if him playing Nickle is the best option for every member of the secondary given their abilities, that’s where he’ll play.

Fair enough, but i've heard hes had a great 2nd week of camp. He owned 1 on 1's from reports i've seen. Even stingley lost plenty of battles to jamarr chase we have an explosive wr room he's gonna give up some plays.
Another example is Eli Ricks, who also started day 1 here despite not being the absolute freak Stingley was. I just think against a wr room like clemson it should simply come down to best on best. Pickett is your most freakish athlete in the cb room that kid should be out there vs guys like moore and wesco.

There wasn't a person who saw Stingley in practice recognizing him anything less than a day 1 guy as the real deal. He came to campus and basically left no doubt in anyone's mind he played like a veteran due to how freakish he is.
Pickett has that kind of talent but it's unfair to think he'll be ready day 1 like Stingley because it's certainly not the norm. Midseason? Might be singing an entirely different tune by then. Who knows, maybe he catches on quicker the next few weeks.

Think Pickett, Stamps, Delane and Woodland get multiple snaps against Clemson.

Didn’t Stingley also graduate mid-term, enroll early and participate in bowl game prep or am I thinking of someone else?

I hope you're right but slow down until we see it in action.
The 2019 squad had a Pro Bowl corner on one side in Stingley, a 2nd-round future NFL starter in Fulton at the other corner, and a NFL starting caliber safety in Delpit.

Excellent ball skills, but I hope who threw that ball doesn’t get much playing time. My lord.
