I’m excited to see them as a tandem for a full season. For most programs losing a Delane caliber corner isn’t a guy you replace by next season but we have two young dogs ready to carry on the DBU mantel.

Many people expect an all sec /all American caliber breakout year from Pickett but I think woodland will also have a great year he’s very underrated I think he will be this team’s version of Kristian Fulton, who was absolute dog on that 2019 team opposite of Stingley.

I agree that Woodland will be very good and underated, but slow your roll on that comparison.

That Fulton and Stingley is one of the best CB tandems we've ever had?

Woodland is such an underrated player. And he is one of the guys I don’t worry about at all. He’s got that dog in him! He’s always gonna be fighter and need players like that.

PJ is going to have to elevate to be at the level of Kristian in 2019. People forget that Fulton was damn near a 90 PFF grade in 2019. He was a truly elite corner that was absolutely a #1 on most teams that didn't have Derek Stingley.

DJ is also going to have to take the next step too if he wants to be in Stingley territory. DJ had arguably the best season a freshman corner had in the country compared to his peers. Sting was graded as one of the top 5 CB's in college football, regardless of class, as a freshman.

Don't get me wrong, LSU has a great pair of corners in Pickett and Woodland this year but they will have to elevate their games to be at the level that Sting and KF were.

You're comparing them to arguably the best CB in the league and another guy about to play his seventh season in the NFL.

I like Pickett's potential and Woodland has been serviceable, but it is almost impossible for the duo to reach the level of Fulton and Stingley.

Fulton was a top 10 (5?) CB in the country in 2019, he just happened to play across from Stingley so people forget about him. Stingley got targeted more than he otherwise would have because Fulton was sticky as hell and teams underestimated freshman Stingley's ability to make a play on the ball and close ground in a split second with the ball in the air.

PJ is a good player. DJ is a good player. They aren't Stingley/Fulton.

Maybe pegging woodland go reach Fulton/Stingley level is asking bridge too far but it absolutely isn’t for dj Pickett. He’s as physically gifted as any corner that’s ever come into this program and we’ve had some freak shows but Pickett is a 6’4 corner with 4.3 speed, wr balls skills with the hip fluidity of a 5’10 corner. If he stays healthy and keeps embracing Raymond’s coaching he will leave mentioned in the same tier as Peterson, Stingley, Delane and Claiborne. Even think he’ll have a better lsu career than Stingley simply because Stingley was really only healthy for his freshmen year I think we get 3 healthy years out of Pickett

Sure, DJ is a very good player. He was a freshman though and while his height/fluidity is impressive, physically Peterson and Stingley looked like NFL starters their freshman years with their speed/strength/physique/ball skills/etc.

I hope Pickett gets some strength up and doesn't lose any quickness. He could be a great, great player for us, but he wasn't Stingley as a freshman (who is now a 2x All Pro).

It's just an unfair comparison of the two duos, that's the bigger point. I'm happy with our starting cornerbacks.

I think the real issue there is depth. These guys can't get hurt.

The anndkng injuries suckssss. He’s starting to come on before he went down. Jackson is an ok cb3 and Finney is extremely talented albeit a true freshman. Def need young guys like Finney and turner to step up

They don’t have similar styles, but you didn’t compare styles. I see nothing wrong with comparing their values. Woodland was very good last year. I expect him to be a solid pro.
