This article was from a year and a half ago @ the Elite11. Let’s hope Brennan can put on a few lbs, if so I think this kid will be ready to go.
quote:

One of the more popular things to do in sports media is to compare young players to more accomplished pros. When a former pro player makes the comparisons, though, it carries a bit more weight. Two SEC quarterback recruits – LSU commitment Myles Brennan and Georgia commitment Jake Fromm – participated in the “Elite 11” quarterback camp semifinals over the weekend in Los Angeles. Former Super Bowl-winning quarterback and current NFL analyst Trent Dilfer was one of the “counselors,” and he said he was impressed by both.

Dilfer told 247sports.com that Brennan, currently a three-star prospect from Bay St. Louis (Miss.) St. Stanislaus, reminds him of Jared Goff – you know, the quarterback who went No. 1 overall in the 2016 NFL draft. “I thought he had a great weekend,” Dilfer said. “I didn’t know much about Myles outside of his highlight film because I wasn’t at his (New Orleans) regional. He’s a super-impressive kid. We always try to do these comparisons now because we have kind of a large sample size of guys playing college football and in the NFL. He has Goff-like qualities. The look is kind of similar and the frame is kind of similar, but he’s got more twitch than Jared.”

As for Fromm, a four-star recruit from Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County, Dilfer told 247sports that he reminded him a bit of Drew Brees. “I would put Chase Daniel in his group; I would put Drew Brees to a certain degree, guys who are just natural passers,” Dilfer said. “Throwing is easy – he knows how to change speed on the ball. He is a big, thick kid that gives you a lot to work with. He’s prepared for that physical part of it.”

Hopefully, this year did some good in getting his feet wet and he can excel next year. I know he wasn't great this year, but hopefully he got some good experience.

Whether it's MB, LN or someone else, I just hope we have a good QB at the helm. We'll need it with our schedule.

Trent has never been wrong before

quote:

Who is the best quarterback in the state of Georgia? Anthony Jennings made his case this past weekend. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound quarterback from Marietta High School came out of the blue to win MVP honors at the Atlanta Elite 11 Quarterback Camp. Elite 11 coach and ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer said, "I would not trade him for another quarterback in the state, that’s for sure.”

Good post, I just spent a few minutes trying to find that exact quote. Dilfer absolutely raved about Jennings at the Elite 11 camp.

I remember Trent tweeted right after Anthony committed to LSU that "LSU just got A LOT BETTER at QB!"

I was trying to find a screenshot of that tweet.

Maybe coaching, or the lack of coaching, also plays a big part in the development of a QB.
You can have a ton of raw talent and not work out because of the development (or lack of development) you get once on campus.

I agree that does create some pause. Harris went to that QB camp over the summer after he signed with LSU and the supposed QB guru raved about Harris.

Where Brennan may have the advantage is he had good QB coaching at the HS level. I think there was a much greater emphasis on reading defenses and pocket awareness. He has elite velocity, release and arm strength as well. I can't remember which game, but the most impressive throw I saw from Brennan was a deep crossing route that hit the WR in the chest but he dropped. It was accurate, on time and got to the WR quickly. It was a glimpse of what can be with Brennan. We'll see if he can put it together in 2018. There will be mistakes and growing pains, but I think tiger nation will be excited about this kid.

You are so right... It was to #10 in the Syracuse game... And on the next play Brennan and Chark had a miscommunication and the ball was thrown out when Chark went in which resulted in the INT.. If the play before would have been a catch #10 would have scored with ease.. Those are some good memories!! BTW: Dilfer is right on about Brennan. Watch and see!

Surely our time has come with the new coaching regime. I mean.. we’re due. Many other SEC schools have landed decent QBs that produced early in their career. WHEN WILL IT BE LSU’s TURN??

Trent didn't realize who Jennings coach would be in College.
How many quarterbacks did Myles develop at LSU?
