Pretty much sums up my feelings.

Are you Chip Kelly

Nope, I'm taller, better looking, older and never played football even at the high school level.

Does Lee "force" many passes?

Yes, he does force passes. That's how he threw 16 INTs in 2008 (a whopping 7 of them returned for TDs) Even last year some of his passes against Auburn were pretty borderline, although both QBs stunk it up in that game.

But he has a quick release, and a strong arm. Also has a pretty long ball, and looks pretty effortless throwing it.

Jefferson won't lose many games, but he doesn't win many.
Lee will win some games, and lose some games.

it's going to be a bumpy ride

the good

- good arm, can make all the throws
- quick release
- throws the ball away more than he used to
- can move around in the pocket, though not a runner
- has been known to come thru in clutch situations
- can get on a roll with his accuracy and carve up a D
- can take a licking and keep on ticking

the bad

- will lock on to a favorite receiver at times
- will throw off back foot
- will rely on his arm and force throws
- all of the above lead to some nerve racking moments including, but not limited to, INTs

this is pretty accurate statement.
Not having a qb playing that isnt know as a runner is the least of my concerns.
When have the abilitiy to move the ball through the air downfield.,. many people here will be amazed how easy it will become for guys like ware, ford, and blue to pick up some big yards.

Lee might still be the starter if he had not thrown 7 pick 6's his frosh yr. He and JJ got forced into action too soon when Ryan Perrilloux got the boot from the team. He is a pure passer. LSU fans are waiting to see how much he has matured and how much difference dropping 30 lbs has made to his mobility. Last year he was bright in on a last chance play in The Swamp to through a perfect fade to win the game on the road so he has kahoonas.

you bring up a good point. If JL can heat up the air attack hopefully Ford, Ware, and Blue can bust loose for big yards. I still have not seen Ford hit his expectations which are pretty high. My kids' Hs team beat his HS team in the state playoffs. We held him to 290 yds rushing and 5 TDs...

Ive noticed times when they will run read option with Lee in the game.. Lee hands it everytime of course.. but seveeral times he was unaccounted for.
Wouldnt surpise me to see hiim keep one this year., hoepefully in a situation that actually matters. Not vs northwestern.

Lee is "shoe challenged" and JJ can outfit an entire football team with Air Jordans.

Wheels and nothing more.
It's the new ncaa, make the defense defend the run to open the deep ball. Before the qb handed off the ball and was done with the play, now the longer he keeps the ball the more players the D has to defend.

Like sat radio Mike Leach comments regarding the LSU offense - Not an exact quote - hell, their offense was 11th ranked in the SEC - if they were 8th, they win the national title.
Lee doesn't need a Heisman year. Manage the game & offense & everything will fall in place.
SR QB that has shown great improvement since his redshirt frosh year. He performed under pressure numerous times last year.
Needs to get off to a good start against OR, No big mistakes on the opening drive is key. If we score on his first possession, we can win it all. If he throws a pick, it could be a long year.
Been a LSU/college fan for 50+ years & I cannot remember a bigger season opener. Or probably goes undefeated if there get past next Sat.

JJ will take a hit after releasing the ball. I hope Lee will stop backing up while throwing. Just plant his feet, throw and take the hit

Duck:

Remember what Dennis Dixon looked like in his last year under Crowton? That's what JJ looked like his whole career.

I'm reserving judgment on Lee just as I was on JJ because the Wizard is in Maryland.

But the general analysis you've gotten is pretty good. Lee is best suited to the pro set and JJ to the zone read. With JJ out I think you'll see a lot of I, play action, and pro sets. Mett suits that profile too.

Lee has a quicker release but is less mobile. He basically is a wild card this season hopefully he can be a game manager and do enough. If that happens we win

As much as people claim Lee is not mobile, he ran a 4.74 secibd 40 as compared to JJ's 4.64 second 40 according to a stat some linked earlier. He's not as fast as JJ, but like JaMarcus Russell is fast enough to be mobile.

Compare that with Omar Jacobs who was Coach Studs QB while he was OC at Bowling Green that clocked a 4.84 second and who was a beast in Studs offense.

Given that Studwara is now our OC, I am not as worried as others, because a running QB wasn't the strength of his offenses. Lee is fleet of foot in the pocket and that is what will be key. Hopefully he'll be willing to not force throws when pressure is on and turn it into positive plays on the ground when needed.

Both JJ and JL have had a spring and fall practice to work with a new OC/QB coach. I hope they are good students and have corrected their 'flaws'. We will get to see how JL has progressed, but may never see how JJ progressed.

We really needed both QBs. Each brought strengths and each had flaws. I hope JL plays like a man possessed to avenge three years of 'not quite there'.

To have the win-loss record LSU had last year and to have been as competitive in the ones that we lost as we were, Les utilized the QBs probably as well as possible.

Les' utilization of the 'differences' led to a fine 2010 season. We have to work with the talent we have.

Well that is just great General Sherman. Another running back at QB. Maybe LSU should run the single wing.
