Didn't we hear from day one LSU was going to pay 600,00 to buy out Umanmeilen?

Oh then you should totally believe it.

I think they probably just assumed that since it was in the contract, part of LSU convincing those guys to leave was telling them they would handle the buyout.

In no way shape or form does this effect me financially, so IDGAF where the money comes from.

There is a complication with LSU paying the money. Somehow, if we pay it, LSUAD is penalized that same amount in our $20.5 million revenue allocation. IF that is true, that is probably why OMiss is pursuing this, to punish not the players but LSU.
Dont quote me because I really was unclear when I heard this briefly discussed.

It kind of makes sense that they would force it to come out of Rev share instead of the collective. But they should have just put an extra 600k into his contract and told him that's the consideration for it and next step is on him.

quote:Wouldn't the suit be against LSU directly if this were the case? Their suit is against 2 players that are allegedly in breach of contract. How'd would that go against LSU's revenue share? The only problem for LSU i could see is if someone from LSU promised to pay it, then crawfished. No matter what, I'm pretty sure they'd have to sue LSU directly for it to be taken from the AD's rev share.

It would be just like Kiffen to withhold payment to piss Ole Miss off and get them litigious over the situation, which looks terrible from a recruiting PR perspective. It’s a vicious, competitive environment in CFB and the SEC.

It looks horrible for OM on the recruiting trail IMO.

CBK has used up the allocated funds.

I guess this will keep players from switching schools after they’ve signed contracts. I don’t like it because it’s an LSU thing but it’s probably good for college football.
