A better example would have been the Ole Miss game in 2001. With the SEC West on the line, that was one of the worst games I've been to. Saban totally screwed the pooch at the end of the 1st half to give OM the ball back and let Eli score.
Total mismanagement of that team. Of course, after that, he finally let Ro and JReed run wild, which he should have been doing from Day 1 when he got to BR.
We lucked out got into the SECCG and we were playing great great ball by the end of the season.
He really rallied the troops after that game, but with LSU at 12-7 since he took over, that game did NOT bode well for his future in BR.
Boos were LOUD for that one.

That's correct...and he should be commended for it.

You're right...i guess Lee should've been 2nd string.
I can't express how dumb I think you are. I may not agree with I-59 a lot, but at least he brings a thought out point of view to the discussion.
You just throw stuff out and hope it sticks. It's like watching an episode of family guy.

This whole Saban vs. Miles thing, where someone either points out one game or one season (2004) ignores the idea of process completely.
Some of us don't look at a W-L record at the end of the year and ignore everything we saw during the year.
The issue right now is twofold, at least. One is that Ole Miss and Alabama are clearly ahead of us right now in the West. Miss St. is at least headed in the right direction, and if Arky beats us this week, that will be 3 years in a row. We have objectively taken steps backward in the past 2 years while every other team has moved forward pretty dramatically. With the quality of coaches right now in the West, it's reasonable to expect it to get more difficult in the coming years.
Secondly, what Miles did this past weekend removed all doubt about one aspect of his coaching abilities and threw serious doubt on his overall ability. More than affirming what so many of us have thought over the past few years, it shed a bright-arse light on it for everyone to see. That's what's so troubling. It's not just "nega-Tigers" that are talking about this. It was an amazing display of ineptitude.

We just differ on our opinions. There's nothing wrong with that and my comment wasn't a slight at all.

You're excusing a loss to UAB because it was his 3rd game and a loss to Iowa on national television because, according to you, he didnt care anymore.
...and i'm the dumb one.
And i guess Miles was dumb for kicking Perriloux off the team too.

This is the truth regardless if your brain can wrap itself around the idea.

Without a doubt.

Nope. He was dumb for having only a Harvard transfer that had no real place in the SEC and a RS-Frosh on the roster behind Perilloux.

This isn't about Saban. He's gone.
This about Miles, and he needs to be gone.

Just because you believe it doesn't make it true. I'm sure that's hard for you to understand.

Because all top tier programs have Junior 5 stars just waiting to play. Just ask Pete Carrol, Bob Stoops, or Jim Tressel.
Your ignorance is giving me a headache...i'm done.

And you bring up Saban's 3rd game? This is why a lot of you Miles can do no wrong guys are complete sheep. You have no perspective on reality. None. Clueless.
it was his 4th..and it was a terrible loss because we just got skull dragged by Auburn....yes we did beat Tenn the next week....but then beat like 41-10 against Florida.
then lost to an unranked Arky team when we were ranked.
his 2nd year..lost to Florida @ home 44-15
Ole Miss at home 24-35
3rd year
Blew out @ V-Tech
Blew out @ Auburn
Blew out Alabama home game
lost 4 out of last 6 games
4th year:
5th year: miracle choke job by OSU
16-45 @UGA
Mailed it in VS Iowa
..I'm not saying he wasn't great..he was..he brought us a NC...but how people can't admit he wasn't perfect is beyond me.

No, you're just clueless.

Again, throw it against the wall an see what sticks? Fool's logic. 5 star junior is the answer to out of place Harvard transfer and RS Frosh.
Your logic mimics that of a 1st grader.

I easily admit he wasn't perfect. I prefer to look at the program as a whole, but yes there were some seriously bad performances in certain games.
This whole thread got started because someone wanted to use a Saban game to let Miles off the hook for Saturday. That's Choctow logic, it's both irrelevant and incorrect.

Saban took over a 4-7 and 2-8 (1-) program and led LSU to 4 straight New Years Day bowl appearances. Something LSU had never done prior or has since.
Well according to you folks, unless its the NC game, it's a bullshite bowl.

Clueless jackass.

Jon, it does no good here to post realistic assessments. Too many of these "fans" are obsessed with Saban and wouldn't like Miles if his teams won every game year after year. Some were griping about Miles after LSU won the national championship. They will never like Miles. Never.
Posted on 11/24/09 at 3:01 pm to drizztiger
I didn't start the thread to get Miles off the hook. He screwed up royally Saturday and he knows it. Saban pulled the program out of a rut and got it to the top of college football. Saban is a brilliant coach but he isn't the God some people make him out to be. Miles has his faults and has made poor decisions at times but isn't as bad as those same Saban worshipers would have you believe. The point is that when people are stirring the pot, they tend to exaggerate and tip the scales in the favor of the side they're on. Miles is our coach and if he stays, I will support him and the team like I always have. If he goes, I will support the new coach and the team like I always have. Pissing and moaning about what a buffoon Miles is isn't gonna change the minds of the extreme pro-Miles crowd anymore than bringing up the UAB game or Capital One Bowl is gonna change the minds of the pro-Saban bunch.

i'm not reading all those pages but if it's already been said(i hope so at least) then disregard this post.
Saban lost those games but he took over a down program and was building it with dinardos players in 2000-2002...still a lot of his players in 02 but my point is that Miles took over a cadillac on cruise at 75 mph headed to the beach. saban had to jumpstart a Yugo headed no where.
the discontent fans have right now has been coming to a head all year and the way we lost just added fuel to the fire.
everyone can tell there are two levels of coaching and miles is not on sabans level and we all need to realize that. buyouts suck.

Actually Pete Carroll has a 5* named Mitch Mustain sitting on the bench.
