It was disappointing. So much more can be accomplished for fan experience with the lighting. For the amount of money LSU spent, they should demand a refund!!

I wish you were right but the system installed at TS is the most expensive in the market. LSU spent way more than they needed.

f they were going to do the whole LED light thing half-arse, they shouldn't have done it at all.

It's like they're synced to Brian Kelly's desire to coach LSU's football team.

LSU emailed a game survey to season ticket holders about game experience.

Worthless waste of time to fill that out. They're gonna do what they want. They just want some group to agree with what they're doing so they can flash that statistic in some bullshite meeting. And, if you don't fall between the ages of 18 and 35, your opinion doesn't meet shite to them.

Right. It's not the system, but the show design, ya know - the part LSU is actually responsible for. I almost felt like they were afraid of it getting to dark in the stadium during the show so they intentionally tried to make it brighter.

If they had turned on only purple LEDs and turned off other light generating things, like the screens and ribbons, it would've been very cool.

Of course the LSU execution was sub-par. We don't understand lighting.

Unlike the red and green Christmas lights, it is hard to get the purple lights to look purple.

This isn't true. They didn't do just purple and they left other light generating stuff on. It was just poor execution.

Just do purple and turn everything else off that isn't purple and it would look fricking sweet.

Exactly. LSU is not pioneering this. There are plenty of examples out there of how other schools do their light shows. At the very least turn off the damn ribbon board ads during the show.

I thought the same exact thing when I saw the X post from above the stadium as well as the picture of UGA’s stadium in this thread where everything is red.

In that UGA photo, they don’t appear to be using the actual field lights at all. It looks like it’s all coming from the ribbon boards. The new ribbon boards in tiger stadium are bright enough, I think, to achieve a similar effect. But the field and stands would be very dark. Likely darker than UGA since it’s purple and not red (as also discussed in this thread).

I’ve thought about it since the game and I do wonder how they balance the experience with potential safety concerns. I hadn’t really considered it before now, but I can see it being a legitimate problem if they dim the lights and some little old lady trips going down the stairs.

I guess it’s also possible that they either held some of that stuff back from the Nicholls game or are still figuring out the show design, considering how close it was to the start of the season when they finally got everything installed and turned on.

I would assume so. I don’t do tacky stadium lights for a living or anything but I can’t imagine that bidding didn’t go out to multiple companies at the least

Sadly, it's about what I expected from LSU. We always seem to half-arse everything.

And pay three times as much for a half arse job

But I’m sure someone’s brother in law has a newly fat bank account.

It's not like LSU was the first school to do it. The people working on the project knew how UGA, Bama, Tennessee, etc. did theirs, and still found a way to make ours look so much worse.

That’s why I’m not upset about New Alex Box. A lot of the things that make college baseball stadiums great recently have come online since New Box opened.

But to be behind on lights and still get that?? Turrible.

We had an opportunity to do something new, something bold... but we installed regular lights and lame technology that other stadiums have been using for 10 years.
