I had thought nothing would surpass Bama 2012. Really think it got louder two weeks ago, though I think it was due to the addition. Fully expect Saturday to reach another level.

Would be awesome if they could actually get speackers on both sides of the stadium working. Don't think they have since the first home game.

I was at all aforementioned games and none touch Bama 2012, that said I can't see how Saturday won't be louder than that.

I wasn't there but I had a friend in the stadium club 20yd line towards student section tell me the dB meter he had got up to 124. He said it was definitely loud.

I image it was at least 2-5dB lounder than that at field level. If Bama game is close it will be loudest game ever for sure.

Someone call the geology department...

Nah. No need for such added cheeziness

It doesn't have to be done cheesy. Just put a basic graphic meter up there and let the fans do the rest.

Do you think the design incorporated this purposely?

I sat on the East Side on the 20 yard line for the Ole Miss game, and I'm here to tell you, it was a different sound. I could feel the sound waves. I actually got a red burn mark on the left side of my forehead from them....

UF 2007 always been loudest for me. USCe that year was close. Bama 12 didn't make my ears hurt like those games. And I sit in 103.

ETA: Ole Miss was consistently loud, but not painful.

Here's a video I found last night. It's when Stoke's catches the TD pass. It's loud, real loud LINK

Not so much. Perhaps if sitting on the south side it is louder, but on the west lower towards to north side, it did not seem any louder than before. It does, however, look more intimidating looking that way!

According to Hannagriff and Ott-yes, significantly louder. I personally thought the Ole Miss game was like being in a jet engine. It was almost too much-I couldn't go to bed until 3am because I was so over-stimulated, my heart was racing.

This is actually very easy to detect scientifically. LSU needs to put 5-10 decibel meters at various points in the stadium then measure average sound levels, peak levels, etc and post them online. This data could be analyzed for different points in the game and different sections of the bowl (ie. Student section) during key defensive stands, etc. This doesn't have to be debated.

Yes and we could tear down the SEZ Upper and get readings for the "before" data set..

Florida 07 is still the lpudest I've been to. It got to where I wasn't hearing the screams so much as the vibration of sound...granted I was in about the 5th row of the student section.

This one may top it though. It was consistently VERY loud for the entire Ole Miss game

And Fowler at one point as Ole Miss lined up to snap the ball uttered a single word..."Deafening"

Watching the replay I thought that was Herbstreit. But it was classic. Just that one word. my ears didn't get back to normal until Sunday morning.
