With the regular season over - how did Les's boys handle the season in your opinion, based on how you thought they would do before it started?

They met my expectations. I thought a 9-3 year was what we had coming. I knew the road schedule would be tough. I thought the defense would have a tough time recovering from all the guys LSU lost to the NFL, but I thought Chief could coach them up.

Overall - I am neither pleased or displeased - they met expectations.

For the record, I'm not a Miles hater. He's a quality coach when measured against anyone in the biz. And that's how you compare - by measuring results.

Met.

I expected a 2-3 loss season. Ole Miss was the surprise.

well I predicted 10-2 (loss to UGA and a loss to either Ole Miss or A&M)

I had them beating Bama

so I guess they fell short of my expectations

Exceeded. I predicted 8-4 last summer in a prediction thread.

They fell slightly short. I expected the defense to fall off but not to the extent that they did. UGA loss was no surprise and Bama also not a surprise, but I expected the Bama game to be decided on the last possession or two. Ole Miss was inexcusable.

I feel good about this team and its direction as we head into 2014 no matter what happens in the bowl game and no matter who declares early.

I will not mention players but I thought the team met expectations. Preseason I thought we would go 9-3. Although I did not factor in the OM loss or thought that Florida would be that bad. I felt like we would struggle on defense early and we did. In hindsight we could have easily have been 11-1. Not bad for a rebuilding year. Next year will be the exact opposite. The defense will have to carry the offense. I know, obvious is obvious.

I had them pegged as 8-0 with the following games as toss-ups:

Bama
UGA
Florida
A&M

So they went .500 in the toss-ups with a loss to OM.

Underachieved? Overachieved? I don't know. Just about what I expected I guess.

Kind of teetering on the fault line, no? Right now, I'd say we've fell a little short of reasonable expectations — thanks to that still-mind-numbing loss to Ole Miss.

But the bowl game awaits. A win over, say, a top 10 Baylor team would be very nice.

Met my expectations. I thought 9-3 to 10-2 would be likely.

Out of the 3 losses the only disappointing one was Ole Miss.

One can't complain about the game against a full strength Georgia team. LSU played a good game.

Against Alabama, the Copeland fumble and the fake punt where the nails in the coffin, but overall the game wasn't too surprising.

Ole Miss was just a complete let down game. Most teams have one game like that a year (see Alabama playing Auburn). LSU just couldn't find a way to win that one.

Fell short on defense and record (WTF Ole Miss?)

Far exceeded on offense and exceeded on recruiting.

Fell short. I thought we'd go either 7-1 or 6-2 in conference, and we went 5-3. The OM loss was unexpected.

That said, 5-3 is an "acceptable" result for the season. I thought we could contend, but the defense was much worse than I thought it would be. Just because they didn't meet my preseason pick doesn't mean I'm disappointed. The team played better after the Bama loss, which was a welcome change and gives us something to build on for next season.

Sums it up perfectly...

quote:

5. LSU (9-3, 5-3 SEC; LW: 5): This is easily the most confusing team to follow in 2013. The Tigers started hot, hit some bumps and then finished strong with an exciting 31-27 win over Arkansas. LSU was without starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger (knee) late, but it didn't matter, as freshman Anthony Jennings drove the Tigers 99 yards, with a 49-yard go-ahead touchdown pass with 1:15 left. This could be another double-digit-win season for the Tigers.

I expected 10-2...impressed by the offense, and did not expect the defense to be so bad.

I had us losing to Bama, UGA and Florida. The team performed about as I expected, EXCEPT losing to one underdog (a rare occurrence in the Miles era) and almost losing to another.

Pre-season I was worried about UGA, Ole Miss, Bama and A&M. I expected 3-4 losses, but I thought Ole Miss was going to be significantly better than they were, and never dreamed we'd catch them missing 6 starters.

I thought we'd play Bama much closer, but also thought A&M would be a nail biter.

I didn't think the defensive drop off would be as bad as it was.

So kinda met my expectations, but had I known Ole Miss would turn out the way they did I would have expected 10-2.
