The losses to Tulane can't be considered similar to losses to state public schools. They had become very competitive under Rick Jones and were in several regionals during that period.

I have seen several stats that proved that he lost at least 4-5 times against instate schools, in fact it looks like McNeese and NW whipped him every year almost. This also does not count the losses to teams like Lamar and Houston and other week competition. The fact is, the data is easy to find.
