so just disregard gun free zone?
There was a lawyer on here the other night that quoted a statute that provides an exemption to the gun free zone law. If the gun is legally owned it can be in the dorm room or in his car.
I'd have to go look it up, but apparently, to the state, it was legal.
Likely that's why he wasn't hit with a gun charge or expelled from school. So far, he's only been suspended from the team, "pending the resolution of the case"
Edit: the statute is:
RS 14:95.2(C) includes exceptions, one of which states that the prohibition on carrying firearms does not apply to: "A student who possesses a firearm in his dormitory room or while going to or from his vehicle or any other person with permission of the administration."

In this day and age of social media no way he didn’t know
The fact that he would be that stupid probably means he needs to be let go

There are cameras everywhere. If he talked with them, it will be on camera. BRPD will get the footage unless LSU deleted it by now.
LSU police are who arrested him not BRPD so I'm sure they have the footage especially after indicating that in the arrest warrant. Most of yall are absolutely clueless

It's a little hard to conceal an AR

Why would he question his friends having guns? Does the 2nd amendment not apply?

They allegedly found a Glock, 2 AR-15's, and a Draco (mini, easier to conceal AK). They weren't rolling up with a couple handguns for safety
Either way he knew they were in some shite. Whether it was trouble back home or with law enforcement. The fact he allegedly let them stay for weeks in his LSU athletics-funded dorm is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of.

If I had a buddy, an 18 year old no less, ask to crash at my house for a couple weeks and he rolled in with a cache of firearms, yeah I’d probably have some questions. Having a right to own guns is irrelevant to whether you’d ask questions in that situation

He should be cut from the team immediately! We don't need thugs infiltrating the LSU campus, and student/athletes should not be a part of any illegal doings.

Why are people not getting that 1. Unless they have his phone and messages on it that incriminate him it’s near impossible to prove he knew about the murder or guns. 2 that if it’s not his guns I’m not seeing how this would directly tie him to anything, especially considering you can have a gun in your home regardless if it’s on a “gun free zone.” As far as I can tell he won’t go down for this in the court of law. He will most likely get kicked off the team regardless though. Also why is hard for people to understand that someone capable of murder is definitely capable of lying to a friend. Especially if that person is on the run.

If I had one of my children or grandchildren enrolled, I would want this kid permanently removed from the premises. Do people think that the coaches haven't talked to the players regarding this type of thing? No excuses, 2 murderers were on campus with assault rifles. If he is stupid enough to let them stay in his room, and he was, he should be gone. The next question is, did he have a roomate? My grandson is entering his freshaman year at another state school and freshman have to live on campus and have a roomate the first year.

I’m not saying he shouldn’t be gone but in the court of law he will probably be ok. I heavily doubt he will be on the team though unless he has a perfect alibi. I get the feeling you haven’t been around gang members at all. You don’t understand the pressure they can put on someone. He could have had his hands tied or not even known. I don’t they were like hey i just murdered someone let me stay with you. What would you do if 2 gang members with guns who literally just murdered someone wanted to stay with you? Lot easier to talk that talk when behind a keyboard vs telling murderers who have nothing to lose and can hurt you or your family no

RIP to his future.
Kid threw it all away and will be spending some time in jail. He’s definitely guilty. What a moron

They will definitely get his phone unless he destroyed it and that would be circumstantial evidence in and of itself. Further, They can obtain other phone records without physically having the phone.
They will also interview others who will say he knew. There is at least one who has already said this.

They didn’t seek out a random dude. They reached out to a guy they felt they could. That tells you all you need to know.

I grew up with great parents, but had to learn in my late teens and early 20s that all people are not good. Not good to be around, not good to emulate, and not good to have as friends. I had to lose a couple, and find some that I wanted to have as mentors.
Give the kid a chance to shine. I hope he does!

How could he not notice 2 AR15s and a Draco (looks similar to an AK47) inside his own dorm?
There’s no way his guests would have been able to hide that kind of firepower.
With a law folder you can fit an AR15 in a small duffel bag or backpack no problem.
