....or was this Jindal's master plan?

Is JBE lying or wrong on the circumstances?

Football supports itself but it is played by students........is he wrong on that?

I live in Texas and really don't care about JBE, but is the situation not a true shite storm?

Was Edwards a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives? Then yes, he's part of the problem.

Raise taxes. Since those are curse words here in LA, JBE has to resort to trying to scare people by threatening the only thing that matters to the people of this state: foosball.

At least you realize Jindal and his legislature created this, but I'm not sure this is scare tactics. Those would be things like "if we don't raise taxes on dog owners, new orleans is going to fall into the gulf."

What we're hearing now mostly comes from Jay Dardenne and the fact is that now that we have sound accounting practices we are realizing "holy shite, we're 3 billion in the hole over the next two years."

For a good example of how much money that is:

1,000,000 - that's a million. that's .033% of the amount of shortfall we have.

I would have to print that out 3,000 times to get to 3 billion.

This is no joke, and you clowns need to recognize that.

You honestly think they are going to shut LSU down?

quote:

During 2013 fiscal year, LSU supported nearly $3.9 billion in Louisiana sales, $1.5 billion in new statewide earnings and an estimated 36,757 direct and indirect annualized jobs. For every operating and capital dollar provided by the state, LSU provided a return $5.08 of economic activity. The immediate economic benefits brought to Louisiana by non-resident students attracted to programs across LSU include more than $353 million in new Louisiana sales, $137 million in earnings and nearly 3,500 new jobs for Louisiana

1. Jindal created huge problems for the state that we will have to overcome for several years;
2. on top of that, we have suffered a collapse of Oil and gas prices which is an important part of our tax revenues. This was not the fault of Jindal, but he refused to forthrightly deal with it in revenue projections.
3. JBE is not lying but he is giving doomsday scenarios to try to get everyone's attention. Every governor since Roemer has done this, but JBE's is more dramatic. Circumstances may be dire enough to justify this, but it is politics.
4. Football will not be affected and schools will not close, except possibly some of the Southern system over the next few years.

It's not scare tactics of reality is this freaking scary. We had eight years of a Governor who didn't raise taxes, and also didn't cut spending. Liberal or Conservative, that's bad politics. Meanwhile oil and gas, which we are completely dependent on, have been plummeting. Are JBE and the leg going to make the best plan to fix it? Probably not, but will they fix it enough so I can keep going to school and my families and your families can go to a freaking hospital? Hopefully.

This is what the cost of filling our cars up for $20 and eight years of the worst politician I've ever seen not accounting for it in any way.

And while LSU football is self sustaining, we have to be a university still to keep playing. The academics still have to function for the boosters to pay for football.

Eta They won't actually shut LSU down. But this was a warning. He told us this was happening, and then let us know that for three weeks people need to write their legislature and and make sure this gets fixed. It's not scare tactics to make sure people understand the consequences of their political decisions.
