Did Dugas solidify himself as our everyday 2nd baseman this weekend?

I think he did. Nippolt is a good player and great defender but if Dugas stays healthy you got to keep that bat in the lineup. What do y’all think?

At 2nd base? Because he hit western michigan? No.

But obviously we have seen him do it before. He definitely cant be taken out of the lineup right now.

And this is coming from the president of the dugas fan club

Not necessarily at 2B, but definitely solidified himself in the lineup.

I just think a bat like his at second base really stands out.

Best 9 bats in the lineup is what matters though.. if he is needed to play LF, as he has in the majority of his LSU starts, then it will be an easy transition.

I think we may see a lot of movement especially if White returns in the DH role...

How long before everyone is complaining that he's hitting solos at the leadoff spot? WE NEED GUYS ON BASE FOR HIM.

He is becoming Johnson’s Tyler Moore

He’s going to be in the lineup unless he begins to slump. Whether it’s at 2B or somewhere else depends on several other factors.

Yes, he solidified himself…until he cools down and unsolidifies himself. I hope he stays hot. I’m rooting for him most of all.

His defense was solid, his offense was excellent. I think so.

Dugas should be the 2B starter by the time SEC play rolls around. I'm sure JJ will continue to rotate and give guys reps until then. Nippolt may get the short end of the stick but he is the ultimate situational/pinch hitter w/ an elite glove. Pretty sure he had a sac rbi every opportunity he faced.

Id expect that he’s at 2nd and Nippolt at 3rd at least until Tanks gets back

I mean if he continues to bash, Johnson showed last year (Berry) that you’ll have a place somewhere

What about the last season when he was fully healthy and he led the SEC in RBIs?

No one is solidified in this lineup every day because there are so many monsters except Crews and Tanks.

But yes, as of now you cannot take Dugas out of the lineup. He stays until someone forces your hand

That wasnt last season, and i already said we’ve seen him do it before. Nothing that anyone does against western michigan on opening weekend will solidify their spot.

Use jobert’s opening weekend last year as a reference

I really don't think there are too many spots that are truly solidified besides CF, SS and 1B. We have a wealth of options. I doubt Dugas' big weekend really opened anyone's eyes or altered anyone's perspective on him - he's proven he can hit before. I think no matter what, Nippolt is going to keep getting ABs no matter where he is in the field. Still a lot of things to shake out.

I think it's more likely you see him move back to LF when Tanks comes back. Assuming he stays hot.

The real question is whether you leave Jones as the DH, or give the nod to Jobert at that spot. I think it'll largely depend on who the starting pitcher they're facing is.
