He looked better than shelvin in the spring game and was downright unblockable.

Shelvin Went up against our starters

Ika went up against Charles Turner, Cole Smith and Cameron Wire.

Edit/ I already Said this but still. He looked great but he dominated dudes he would have dominated in high school a year or two before.

At first he did, but then they switch the two during the game. They put a purple jersey on Ika and let him go up against the starters in the second half. He held his own, and even made a couple plays.

If you watched The spring game...not really surprising...he was literally unblockable.

U right. I am not giving him his due I think... The guys im most excited about showing up this year are Logan and Farrell they both surprised me last year and im readyt o see what they do. Fehoko played nose for us last year when that is not his best position in the 3-4 I think and he was a warrior but I still am super pumped about the two I just mentioned and think they really surprise people thisyear

Oh yeah and Moore he looked like a damn man during spring game ready to see what he brings to table he played very physical and I was impressed with his intensity when he was tuned in

If you’ve seen this kid at all during the spring and in the spring game, common sense can name him a starter. He’s going to be another great one.

Exactly they’re getting on one of our players who’s worked his arse off simply bc they don’t know jack shite. Man I can’t stand this contingents of our fan base.

Such lame miserable people. All of them. It’s the same ones that complain about anything.

I went back and watched some of Shelvins film from his HS days when he was at the Oline/Dline camps, he destroyed Alex Leatherwood. O said he is down to 340, so he has not gained weight back and he will be ready for the season.

Well, Lawrence and Fehoko aren't DTs in the base package.

They’re both going to get snaps not a real clear cut starter it sounded like to me

This. I think we'll see them both getting 25-30 snaps every game. Fehoko will probably slide to the inside on passing downs to give LSU a quicker front and give the big guys a rest.

Having two legit NTs is needed so that we can rotate our DEs more too. If the DEs are going to be stunting more and rushing upfield, it would be better if the NTs don't get worn down. We've had the best success when the depth has been there. Shelvin will play first but Ika has to be able to log 30-40 plays per game too.

I remember when B.Logan and M.Brockers rotating out for Josh Downs and Anthony Johnson in 2011. Ken Adams and Lavar Edwards played significantly too behind Montgomery and Mingo. You need 8 legit players who can make plays if you want an elite defensive line over a 13-15 game season.

Well we had a 4-3 that year but yeah you need a legit 2 deep.

We need to hope and pray for all our DL’s health.

If you consider Chaisson actually as a DE (in the same role as Mingo was when he was in Chavis' 4-3) and Chaisson is this role when he puts his hand down, then you still have 4 primary guys on the line of scrimmage.

Agree the depth has to be there to be able to have better run defense which was terrible in 2018.

This is what really matters. 2 deep. LSU has missed on big men consistently the past few years. Fresh legs make a big difference.

Aranda will play to his players' strengths. He's flexible and that's one of the things I like about him most. He's not going to be stubborn and try to fit a square peg in a round hole. He's going to put his best 11 out there and make adjustments as needed.

Hopefully Ika and Shelvin can stay healthy and in shape. Rotate those big boys and keep them fresh.
