Watching the way Alabama offense moves the ball up and down the field, it looks a lot like our 2019 Offense. They run a lot of the same routes, they use RPO’s the same way we did, their tempo is very similar, and their skill guys are comparable (although we probably had more quality receivers). They’re also scoring high numbers of points and racking up huge amounts of yardage, just like we did.

Bama had a senior laden team play in a year where a ton of teams didn’t have much time to really practice and prepare. They are a great offense but wouldn’t hold a candle to 2019 LSU during a normal year

No, they have a NFL caliber OL with a smart and accurate Qb. A great RB and the best WR I have ever seen. A play caller who knows how setup the run with pass and vice versa plus he knows how get the matchups he wants and the players to execute.
IMO, the biggest thing they have is an OL that dominates just about every play.

Bama has single concept they are doing well tonight. Motion Smith behind the line and get him into space whichever way he gets out.

Ohio state is stupid to play him man and that guy is getting beat badly like hide and seek.

Chase was catching contested passes against AJ Terrell who was drafted in the 1st round.

Ohio St is trying to cover Smith with their white LB

So no, this is kinda different.

Bama's offense is more misdirection and eye candy, but they do a great job of executing it. The biggest similarity is how they move guys around and find, then exploit mismatches.

What’s amazing is it’s basically just Harris and Smith with that mammoth OL. Metchie is a good secondary contributor but it’s 2 guys essentially

I’m not saying that they run it any better than we did or that we didn’t have better players than they have. I’m not focusing only on the Ohio St game and how Ohio St is playing them has got not nothing to do with the observation. I’m saying that schematically, there are a great many similarities between our scheme in 2019 and theirs in 2020. It looks to me like after we beat them in 2019, Saban looked at what happened and the success we had across the board, and decided to build an offense like the one we ran with great success.

Yep, when Saban was a LSU he stated they implemented plays that worked about his defenses. Only LSU couldn’t run the same playbook from last year.

Not really that close. It’s tons of motion and slant with RPO mixed in.

Bama has had the 2019 LSU offense Since about 2013 when Kiffin got there. There Oline is so good this year and last everything they run works... Jones has minimum 5 seconds to throw. And Bama has a very good running game. Unstoppable.

LSU with the Oline coming back and Bama Oline going to the NFL will be very competitive with Bama and everyone else in 2021

Most of Smith’s big plays came against cover-2 zone. OSU knew they were too slow to man up.
