That says get stamps out of there and don’t play the freshman who haven’t played all season for the whole second half and you won’t give up that many yards

Zy got picked on the worst of any defender by far actually

You must be cross-eyed; defense gave up damn near 500 yards to Baylor. Being "serviceable" doesn't win games, it gets you an 9-4 record and missing the 12 team playoffs..

He made one nice play when he was unblocked. He is always late helping on deep balls and takes horrible angles.

I think you’re right, potential is there. The thing for me about him is he plays with swagger always trash talking. He might not back it up all the time but we need a few like him on D, let him talk it and others not so rabble rousers walk it. He does that for sure and besides our biggest trash talker Major is gone.

Actually, Zy Alexander played the best of any secondary player. That TD he gave up in the corner of the endzone was an amazing catch. I would take that coverage any pass play in a game. Also, he came very close to picking off a pass near the sideline in the 4th quarter. That was 100% luck that the receiver caught it on the deflection although the play only netted a couple of yards.

Scone has mentioned a few times that Gilbert has been dealing with a nagging shoulder injury. I wonder how much of his issues with tackling are related.

Maybe because Burns was absent he was asked to do different things than he was during the season?

He looked more aggressive in the bowl. I like the kid but he’s a rotational guy. Not great in coverage and hit and miss on angles/tacking. I think there is a role for him on this defense but not as primary starter

This. There’s no reason to tell him to kick rocks. Let him battle and he will very likely end up as a backup Safety. And a backup with plenty of SEC game experience isn’t a bad guy to have around, as long as his attitude isn’t an issue.

I'd really just like to sit in a film room and listen and try to understand what they are teach DBs these days.
