Did anyone anticipate Denbrock being this impactful?

Except for his years at Cincy, I didn’t notice anything about his resume that screamed offensive genius. I thought he’d be a good OC but I had no clue he was going to have us as the premiere offense in all of CFB.

Is it as simple as him just having better athletes to play with than ever before?

I was excited about House and doubtful about Denbrock.

Has been impressive for about the past 10 games.

Favorite play from Saturday: the 1/4 rollout right, throwback to Emery. Perfect design.

He has surpassed expectations so far. Great mixture of playcalling.

I think part of it is the fact that we have so much talent on offense this year. It'll be really interesting to see what he can do next year when JD5 is gone and Nabers, Thomas, and several of the running backs are gone.

I think that's almost all of us.

I wouldn't discount the impact of Sloan. I read nothing but good stuff about him.

Samesies.

I'm still not completely flipped either. Denbrock has an embarrassment of riches that can make a guy look much better than he is and House is in the exact opposite situation.

I believe it’s the Denbrock/Sloan combo, plus having a great QB like JD5 makes everything better.

Very similar to the Ensminger/Brady combo with Joe Burrow.

The talent is making him look a lot better IMO. The offensive line is really helping the cause.

He should be a finalist for assistant coach of the year. Jesus, LSU scores a TD on like 2/3 of its drives and probably only stopped for punts maybe 1/10.

LSU's offense had 8 people make catches and had 5 people rush the ball.

Spreading out the offense like this is going to be impactful down the road. I was worried we would be stuck with Nabors/Taylor/Daniels as 90% of our offensive production but we're really starting to stretch it out.

That's okay. We don't need an offensive genius.

We need a good OL and OL coach (which we seem to have).

We need a guy that can develop QBs (which we seem to have).

And we need a guy that can call plays to maximize the available talent (which seems to be occurring).

That's all without mentioning the biggest piece to this puzzle: Jayden Daniels.

It's easy to look good as an OC when you have a QB like Daniels in his second year along with two NFL wide receivers.

Denbrock wasn't receiving too much praise last year at this time when JD had 80 yards passing against Auburn.

Yes.

LSU's offense is not particularly creative. The scheme/approach really isn't fooling anyone, nor is it incredibly tough to prepare for. The reason it has been so successful is that they have an answer for however the defense wants to attack it and the players are executing at a high level.

First, the OL has been really good. That's where it starts. If a defense wants to sit back in zone LSU is fine. They are happy to run comeback routes in the soft spots or just hand the ball to Diggs for 7-8 yards up the middle. Also, the OL has been good enough to allow Daniels time to wait in the pocket for guys to clear the zones downfield. Once they do, he's been incredibly accurate throwing the ball.

If you want to bring a safety up to attack the run, LSU is ok with that too because they believe their receivers can beat anyone in man coverage. On that note, if you want to blitz you kind of do so at your own risk because (1) Daniels will throw a deep ball to Nabers/Thomas. Or (2) if you don't get there with the blitz Daniels will just take off and "jog" for 40 yards.

The 2019 team obviously had great players. But the scheme also fooled a lot of defenses as well. That really isn't the case this year. It's just great players executing a really high level and a QB that can kill you both through the air and on the ground. It has to be incredibly frustrating for defense to feel you have everything blanketed in the passing game only to watch Daniels go flying by you on the ground.

I’m just so very impressed with his balanced approach.

He mixes in rb runs, short stuff, TE passes, deep shots, qb keepers, etc. so well. Like Defenses are just sitting in their heels because they don’t have a choice.

I really likes the jet sweep triple option.

we’ve run that so many times with Mason as the passing option I think Nabors being in motions really threw them off

True but that was largely on JD refusing to throw the ball down the field. We had 3 NFL WRs on the field last year so could've arguably been even more explosive.

Denbrock's play calling wasn't the issue last year. This year has proven that.

And he isn't picking up 4-6 yards, you blink and he's 20+ down the field. He looks like he's on ice skates, it's wild how smooth + fast he is.
