Yep. They were at Bernie Moore and not many people went. More like scrimmages.

I attended one as a student at LSU. It was held at the track stadium. I believe Alan Risher was the young QB for the Tigers.

I attended a few Freshmen games, back when freshmen were not allowed to play varsity.
I watched LSU freshmen, with Mike Hillman and Trey Prather beat an Ole Miss freshmen team QBd by Archie Manning.
We won by a by a wide margin, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately Archie was much better as a Soph and Junior and was the difference in Ole Miss winning those games

Then disaster struck the next night. 14-0.

I was there in Tulane Stadium for that 14-0 game. (One of my Top 3 memorable moments as an LSU Fan/Alum. and absolutely NOT a good one)

I was a Senior in High School at Choctawhatchee in Fort Walton Beach Florida. (I went to stay with my cousins in FWB for that final Fall football season so I could play in the awesome Choactaw Marching Band) I transferred back to Mandeville to graduate since that was my hometown and where I spent all of my school years. (Played football at Mandeville as a Fr, Soph and Jr)

Already had auditioned for Tiger Band (And made it) by the time the Tulane game was played in November.

Anybody at that game remember when TU scored right before half-time and one of the Greenie players knocked down/pushed real hard one of the Tiger Band members in the endzone after the TD?

Are there any records of these games anywhere? How many games would the jv play a year and did they play other sec teams or instate teams

They played 4 games a year like on Fridays early around 3 pm or so. Best I can remember.

These games were in Tiger Stadium.

Loved watching Hillman, I believe QB in the first Peach Bowl game in 1968 over FSU 31-27.The sheet I remember.

Trey Prather was killed in Vietnam. Sad RIP Trey.

I started on those teams. It was great especially for walk ons. We played a 6 game schedule. We played Tulane in Bernie Moore Miss St in Tiger stadium Memphis Houston and SLU in strawberry stadium which was packed. Most of the freshman scholarship guys cut their teeth in those games except for a few amazing players like Dalton Hilliard and Gary James. Several of those games in Tiger stadium had a I’d say almost 15-20 people. Looking back it’s something how many stars both at LSU and other schools played in those games. At that time pretty necessary to develop talent. It was a great time and a lot of fun. Wish I had the film of the SLU game.

I meant 15-20 thousand people. One other thing I forgot to mention. Sophomores played those games as well. Not sure when they ended as I was there when Bo Rien was supposed to be our coach but he passed away in a plane crash. Coach Stovall took over.

No, but I listened to them on the radio. There were some exciting games.

Of course, these games were played when freshmen could not play on the varsity.
