Much thanks. Maybe addressed but what if we only sign 20 high school seniors. Can we take 12 transfers ? Ive seen much mis-info on this question.
Anyone predicting the number of scholarship players we will have when fall camp opens?

Starting with Texas Bowl 39 plus 13 signed in 2022 class plus say 7 portal players signed plus ? that were not in Texas Bowl 39 that return (KB and others) - I have no idea and that is why I ask.
Loved watching Hillman, I believe QB in the first Peach Bowl game in 1968 over FSU 31-27.The sheet I remember.

Trey Prather was killed in Vietnam. Sad RIP Trey.

I believe he was responsible for NCAA approving exception for LSU having to wear dark (purple) jerseys at home games. Allowed the white jerseys provided visitors approved. In effect visitors wore their home dark jerseys.

LSU Alumni brought Gerry to NYC for a meet and greet at a place called Brother Jimmy's. He wasn't very social and had trouble with the crawfish. LSU staffer ran over and said Coach let me help you. Was hanging in the corner when I approached and spoke for 10 minutes or so. He was from Brooklyn and played for Notre Dame

The next two seasons Archie led Ole Miss to come back victories, late in the game, over the Tigers.

For you youngsters -- Archie led the 26-23 victory in 1969 over the eventual 9-1 Tigers. That game cost them a Cotton Bowl bid for the National championship against Texas.

Despite a 9-1 record, Tigers did not participate in a bowl game after they were shut out of the Cotton Bowl and Sugar Bowl, and refusing overtures from the Bluebonnet, Gator and Peach bowls. That would not happen today

LSU hoped to appear in the Cotton Bowl, because the winner of the Texas-Arkansas game would be ranked no lower than No. 3 in the Associated Press poll, and quite possibly No. 1. However, when Notre Dame voted to participate in bowl games for the first time since 1924, the Cotton snapped up the Irish. The Sugar Bowl, peeved by a perceived snub from a school just 80 miles away, instead chose Ole Miss, which, despite beating LSU 26-23, was only 7-3.

As it turned out, Texas ascended to No. 1 after Ohio State lost 24-12 at Michigan. The Longhorns kept their top ranking by defeating archrivals Texas A&M 49-12 and Arkansas 15-14, then knocking off Notre Dame 21-17 in the Cotton Bowl.
what a team 1969 Tigers. Lost to Ole Miss by 3; and then excluded from Cotton Bowl as Notre Dame changed post season play policy. They played Texas for the National Championship I believe. LSU was so upset, the team voted to stay home instead of playing in a lower ranked bowl. Can you imagine ?
Nelson Stokley #14

I actually found a picture I took of Stokley with other members of the offensive team during picture day prior to the 1968 Sugar Bowl held at Tulane. I sent the picture in a tweet to Brandon Stokley his son (former NFL star and now in broadcasting). He tweeted back “how cool”.
