It'd be neat if we used him a bit like Myles jack when he was at ucla

I bet he would have been a dangerous RB.

That picture in OP is just ridiculous. You could seriously throw a Baltimore Ravens uniform on white and put him out there on the field on Sunday and nobody would know he was a college sophomore.

it was one of those "yeah you can play RB here" evil laugh recruiting moments
No they don't force position changes. White could be an All-American on either side of the both and they liked him at either spot.
He wanted to move for earlier playing time since he had Fournette, Guice, and Williams ahead of him at the time.

"Miles said they put Devin White at LB after White asked to start out there in hopes of seeing the field earlier than he would have at RB."

That big flex after he dirt rolled Auburn’s qb in the backfield was epic.

He's listed at 240 and he definitely could at his current weight, but would probably be around 235.

Would love to see a few snaps at TE.

In before.. I see more yoked linebackers walking thru the Quad everyday.

You should have seen him as said RB...holy shite he was a yardage monster! As tough to get down as he is man of steel on D.
Never though that we would play D.

ETA: FWIW because this is kind of third hand but I heard someone on one of the local radio shows say that "an NFL scout" told him "Devin White could start for us right now."
If it was for the Cowboys or Pats your source is telling the truth

Man, I'd love to see him play a little running back!
LB is a much better career choice for him. They have more longevity in the NFL, and good RB’s are considered to be a dime-a-dozen position anyway.
It’s kind of like how good CB’s are considered to be more rare and valuable than good WR’s I’m the NFL. Same thing with LB’s compared to RB’s.

I'm sure it's been noted already, but Devin White gives as much effort as he is talented and football smart. He leaves it all on the field. I can distinctly remember him, on at least one occasion, diving backwards off of a block (possibly a double team) to try for the tackle against Auburn. So far, he's everything I look for in an LSU football player.

Apparently you never saw him play much, if any, at RB. I watched him play RB/LB/punt returner/KO returner for 4 years in HS, seeing all but a few games. I talked to the AL RB coach/asst HC on the sidelines at one of his games his sr year. AL was recruiting him for RB, as well. About the only team recruiting him for LB was A&M. Believe the recruiters: he would've been a good college RB.
If he'd stayed at RB in college he would've slimmed down some, just like he already has. 255# was his peak weight as a sr in high school at which time he was carrying a few extra pounds.

Glad we didn’t keep him as a FB
