All that motion is not really to "fool" the other team. People don't try to 'trick' SEC defenses (the occasional trick PLAY...but, not the main plan)

The motions DO:

1) Force the defense to think about their individual assignments and how they might change based upon the shift. Can't get comfortable until final alignment

2) REVEALS to the OL, QB, WRs, etc just what defense the opponent is in (Man, press, Zone - which type of zone etc)

3) Even if not "fooled"..these are college players. Sometimes, the safety (assume he has responsibility for the jet) does not get wide ENOUGH. He wasn't "fooled". He simply did not execute a part of his responsibility that made his job just a tiny bit more complex.

4) More difficult for the defense to change personnel based upon the offense. If OL shifts into unbalanced alignment and ends up with 2 tackles on one side....the defense may not be in personnel to handle the "heavy". Or, if they are "heavy"...Offense can run a more 'spread' style.

5) Makes the defense defend the ENTIRE width of the field. D players chase the ball no matter where it goes. THAT is why defense gets worn out and offense doesn't (on average).

6) Defense has to hesitate just a split second before committing. DE can't just crash down on the RB IF he has outside contain, etc

There are many reasons to run the motion. It is not my favorite offense. But "fooling" the defense is a very minimal part of it and is just a lucky happenstance more than the plan

well said...

I think the Offense would look great next year...

But I do wish we would run Briles offense.. We have the personel next year to do it with 3 6'5 WRs and a few short fast guys.. I like the spread while having a power run from the spread.. We just match up well with anyone when we do that..

Curious how taking an identical job and moving from the Big 10 to the Mac is an upgrade?

Also curious how getting fired is an upgrade?

Please explain.

Lmao. He ended up with a better job so his firing doesn't count. Fact is that the dude is difficult to work with. That is obvious.

Ok, so then please explain to me why Orgeron gets a pass for hiring a difficult person for his most crucial hire? And then giving him 1.5 million per year?

Because the Rant can figure out Canada is insubordinate by his resume. Why couldnt Orgeron see that by his resume?

it's our fault for posting about Canada b/c that led to Pomansky seeing it and relaying it to O

i'm kind of joking but i'm kind of not (especially given what O did when he took over, ie, everything to appease the online mob)

O said he got involved in the game planning offensivly vs Troy in the first half. Where LSU did not score a point. Ed Orgeron said he got involved in the game planning that week.

If true O really does go back and forth.. and not sure he’s learned much of anything. I could see this initiating the beginnings of a rift. Canada’s main reason for coming here was full control of the Offense.

Have you ever held a real job yet? Your agenda is obvious on here. It is a huge red flag to see a resume like Canada's resume...constantly jumping. Means his current employer wasn't willing to match the offer at the time of his departure. Wonder why that would be?

Agreed. Canada has been a very likable guy everywhere he has been. Just had unfortunate situations, over and over. Lmao

So answer the question then. Why did Orgeron hire him and make him one of the highest paid Asst Coaches in football? My agenda on here is to point out we have morons running our football program. But most people on here just refuse to see that. You will make excuse after excuse for Orgeron.

I think Canada was a desperation move. O lost out on Kiffin and needed a big name to fulfill the promises that got him the job.
If Canada does leave after signing day, the one and only call should be to Freeze. His sanctions are for HC only, and he will need a couple of years to rehab his image. They have an existing relationship so presumably O would keep his hands out of the offense. Just put an ankle monitor on Freeze.

He was a for backup plan. The guy is a good coordinator but very difficult to work with. Maybe O thought they could make it work. I'm not an O supporter, at least to begin with, but I live the direction of the program. He is hitting recruiting very hard in the trenches, which is great, plus he is poised to close with a very good class if we get who many think we will. We have a high profile matchup in the bowl game and a solid showing will very likely land Lsu on the cusp of a too 10 ranking. We start the year off against what will be a top 10 opponent, albeit overrated. We just got an upgrade at ol coach, and might do the same at OC. Not bad for morons. Now stay in school, study hard, and quit being so emotional. It's just football man.

I wonder if hes just an a-hole or if his offense looks so gimmicky that control freak head coaches have a difficult time really buying in.

Well it appears the ULL job will not be filled by Canada.

now Napier has taken another job. Sources have told FootballScoop that other Arizona State assistants have also fielded job offers this week. Additionally, we are told that strength coach Shawn Griswold has been informed he will not return.

Napier is set to take over for Mark Hudspeth, who was let go last month after seven seasons on the job.

That leaves Kent St as the only vacant HC job.

Has orgeron or alleva held a real job? Lol. They each will likely make more in one year than you will in a lifetime.
