I can't decide which is dumber:

1. Harry T's for their action
2. Harry T's for their letter/response
3. LSU fans for going apeshit over this
4. Harry T's for their apology dinner

Do all fan bases take everything so personally?

I could be wrong, but I think if #2 had not happened, #3 would not have happened, and #4 would not have been necessary...Of course if #1 had not happened, we would have nothing to talk about...

Perhaps that was my mistake. I assumed that by "proceeds" he was refering to gross proceeds. Therefore, the 50% would mean $5 of the $10 plate. If he is meaning net proceeds, or "profit" then you are correct, it would be $1.25 of the $2.50 profit.

The statement form HT's specifically said "profits."

So, you didn't want our money, and now you are holding an event in hopes of getting our money and you are even willing to share in the profit. How generous of you.

The owner seems like a good guy. He married a cajun girl from Gueydon so he has that going for him.

This is going to help his business more than anything. It got him a lot of publicity and Florida is filled with people who don't care about LSU football or it's fans.

i don't work for Harry T's....

I live nearby Destin, nothing is right about what happened. The owner is one of the nicest guys and is owning up to it...even though a manager took it upon his own to write that letter. This NEVER gets to the level it got if that dumb letter isn't written.

Harry T's Owner Owning It

I assure you if you are a believer in second chances, just go talk to Dan the owner at Harry T's...then decide. He is very humble to this situation, and I know he is taking this pretty hard. He's very hands on, and this got away from him. And I know he can't believe it happened, knowing him he will make this right for years to come.

Wear your LSU stuff all over this town. Don't go there, plenty of great places here to eat at, but he's a classic local business owner, hard worker...a stupid employee put a huge dent in his name he has built over the last 20 years here.

Let's focus on important things now:

1) undefeated
2) LF7
3) WK
4) BEAT BAMA

He's also donating $2000 to LSU as well...plus portions of the profits. It's what he does with the other alumni groups too.

Lost in all this indignation is that one or more LSU fans have engaged in threatening behavior in the past, which in the minds of some staff, gave LSU fans "a bad name".
we can fault the restaurant's reaction and its policies, but sometimes our fans misbehave.
And give us a bad name.
So, before we get too high and mighty and appalled, let's consider that some of our fans may have played a role in all this...

It's not that complex. Name a restaurant where a fan, gender, race, etc. hasn't needed attention from management. You don't say "all (fill in the blank) are not welcome here" because of the actions of a few.

Doubt LSU fans are the only ones who have caused a problem there. Destin is a melting pot for the SEC.

Hmm. Seems way too convenient. I will reference my post from page 5 of this thread:

quote:

It's their establishment and they can do what they want. That being said, it is my guess that there have been no instances where LSU fans "physically attacked" members of the Harry T's staff. If these attacks actually happened, any responsible business owner would call the police, file a report and have said attackers arrested. Again, only a guess, but I would wager no such police reports exist.

In the minority, yes.

Seems a lot of people on Facebook and on here are really enjoying hearing themselves talk

No, most of us "outraged" fans see through the lies and piss poor management expressed by them originally at the site and in response to the complaint filed afterwards. They had the perfect opportunity to apologize when the complaint was originally sent and instead were defiant and even more insulting to the whole fan base. Incredibly poor management skills.

quote:

Their apologies seem sincere

You determined this from a FB post where they use the word "regret" (sure they do with all the bad press and loss of customers) and can't say "we're sorry" or "apologize"?

Some fans will be excited about a "free drink" but some fans understand you can't buy integrity even with a free drink, and they have none. They now feel the power of TD and social media, that's what they regret.

I've been thinking that this whole time. Some idiot probably gets drunk during a game acts like an arse and tries to fight the manager.

"Omg Harry T's said we had to leave! I am so offended and we will ruin them on Yelp!"

It's like getting kicked out of Captain D's. Just go to the numerous better places to eat in Destin.

As Captain Nathan Brittles, played by John Wayne, in She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, once said "Never apologize. It's a sign of weakness."

This is also rule #6 in NCIS, as outlined by Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

If it is good enough for two 'Merican Badarses, its good enough for me!

Since moving to the coast Destin has been an easy trip to make. Harry T's need not worry about seeing my tiger tail walking into their establishment.
