As impressed as I was with Surtain, Jr.'s high school career, Stingley may be better in coverage. While both are exceptional athletes, I might give the overall edge to Surtain for things like PR, potential on offense, etc. However, as a pure cover guy - Stingley is completely ready to play college ball right now.

Has been all year.

Which means no excuses for the coach O and SE!

This has to be O’s year or I don’t think it will happen for him

He is a rare talent. He could quarterback or be a receiver and be lights out.

His junior stats (when thrown at 18 times) were, 11 int's, 6 break ups and 1 caught ball against him in prevent defense at the end of game. That's impressive.

You’re thinking of baseball where you can be a sophomore and yet draft eligible if old enough

He's legit. Like Fournette legit. He'll replace Greedy day 1. I know that sounds crazy, but the kid is that good.

Dont you think that if sophomores could go to the draft simply because they’re older that you would have heard of at least one incident where it’s happened?

People naturally (because it’s LSU) compare him to Patrick Peterson. I think he compares better with Charles Woodson. I think, circumstances dependent, he could win a Heisman at LSU if allowed to participate as a return guy and with some snaps on offense.

I have seen a little film and he's been impressive. I just hope LSU fans don't expect too much from him right away. He's very talented, but he's also going to be a true freshman and he's going to make mistakes. It's inevitable.

It would be cool to see a defensive player win that award again, especially an LSU player.

What’s the LSU record for interceptions in a career?

Chris Williams had 20. Corey Webster is second all-time with 16.

Not sure, but DS had like 18 his junior year, and the ball was only thrown his way like 24 times.

“2. Stingley intercepted 11 passes last season as a junior at Dunham with six pass breakups and 64 tackles. He has 25 career interceptions, including two when he played for the varsity in the eighth grade in 2014.”
