Here's what Denbrock said re: JD coming back:
“I think what it does is help us build momentum into the off-season. We are a little more settled, obviously, than we were a year ago, and it gives us a chance to really kind of go to work on the finer details of making ourselves a lot better.”

This year was hurried with everybody, coaches, QB and others trying to mesh. Just like 2018 with Burrow. Not saying we go 15-0 next year, but with several months to work on fine-tuning JD with receivers, it could make for a great season.

I don't think anyone can argue that stability at positions makes improvement easier. Not having to constantly evaluate who will be the guy taking the most snaps creates time to perfect the little things.

It’s always a + when you return your starting qb

People who keep comparing this year to 2018 with Burrow are setting themselves up for massive disappointment next year.

Hopefully the WRs take on a summer of 10k catches with JD.

LSU in 2023 will definitely be better than this year's team, if you are hating Tuck Fulane is always looking to increase their fan base of 4

I compared to 2018 only setting up that we can improve in a big way from last year as those teams did.

Two things are different now that would make it highly unlikely that next year's team is remotely as good as 2019: 1. Basic talent level. Burrow, Jets, Chase, CEH, Stingley, Fulton...far better. 2. Burrow's mental toughness vs. JD. Forget about athleticism, when you get in tough situations, it comes down to QBs who thrive under pressure. Montana, Brady, etc. Burrow has that big time. JD does not. He did in Bama game, but it's sporadic.
Got spooked in Arkansas game and it cost us big.

Best Burrow example, among many, is when we were down 17-7 in NC game and Burrow stayed calm and focused. Didn't freak out. Most QBs would be thrown off their game by falling behind in huge game like that.

Why?? If fans think it's stupid to compare 2018 Burrow and 2022 Daniels.... then can you all please stop comparing all other past players with current players and so forth.

For a few reasons.
1. Most player comparisons that fans make aren't as accurate as they think.
2. Daniels is going into his 5th year as a starting QB whereas Burrow was going into his 2nd. Expecting Daniels to make a Burrow like jump is unrealistic and stupid.
3. Daniels just isn't as good of a quarterback as Burrow. Not sure anyone would argue with that.
4. 2019 teams was one of the most talented teams in the history of college football. We don't have that now.

Then the comparison should be 2012 to 2013.

Why people think just because a player returns they will improve is pretty impressive.

This.

JB9 should such strides because he had 12 games under his belt.

JD5 has like 40+. We’re at his ceiling.

The only similarity to 2018 is having so many people returning on offense. However, that can’t be ignored and should lead to development and improvement.

The best thing for Daniels and this offense as a whole will be improving the run game outside of him. He’s not built to carry this offense but he had to at times. However, the best games he and the team had were when we established the run consistently and got some balance.

If the OL develops like it should this off-season and one or two of our RBs step up (or a sure-fire starter comes over in the portal late), THAT will help the starting QB more than anything else. Consistent balance will make everything they do easier.

Wait so we aren’t going to have the greatest team and season ever in college football history?
Thanks for saving me the disappointment

What if I told you you can compare certain aspects of two things without thinking they are exactly the same or expecting identical outcomes?

How can we not have better quarterback play? The staff has a whole season of game film on JD. Besides getting JD to work on some his weaknesses, if they are good, they will create some new plays and formations designed to let JD get the ball out of his hand faster and stop taking so many sacks. I think this off season is more about our coaching staff, then players.

I have. None of them made as big of a jump as Burrow did. So what's your point?
