You would think, I mean I read the agreement sent to IFC when y'all came back on campus. Y'all used to own your property, and now you do not

Hang the fricking signs. Everyone else is supposed to have the right to free speech, they should too. The KKK can have organized marches, but they can't hang a sign? BS. I don't care what it says. There are never curse words on their signs.
Two that I remember:
My freshman year, fall of 1994, the week after a KD pledge got fingered by a Kappa Sig in plain sight in Murphy's...
"KD & KFC, Finger Stinking Good" (ouch)
My first LSU game was vs. Florida State at about 9 years old.
"The Tigers stop the Semenholes, we wear Trojenz"
We drove by the house on Dalrymple sometime before noon...Within those few seconds, I saw the banner, a girl on the front lawn in her bra passed out, and a dude on the roof who must have just hung the banner, turning up a bottle of something. My old man turned and looked at me and said, "Son, if you go to LSU you can be in any fraternity you want, except that one". LOL

That's fricking funny!!! And how is it offensive? It was accurate. And the player who it is aimed at admitted that he has that particular preference.

Doesn't LSU own the property and the fraternities own the houses. It doesn't really make much sense to me, but that is what I remember. LSU used to tow cars if we parked it on our lawn.

You're trying really, really hard to elicit rational thought.
Ok-here's my point.
Uniformity of belief is the current societal demand. There doesn't seem to be an understanding of how dangerous that is. Demand being the key word.
And it's painfully obvious to me that most people have no idea where this leads and why that is catastrophic. We must defend the assholes amongst us with extreme urgency.
Decorum is one thing, and that is where this conversation should be confined. And anybody who makes the point that they are dumb assholes acting like little pricks has a legitimate point. But see-I prefer a world full of dumb assholes acting like little pricks to this Culturally-Marxist, politically correct society of fricking Nannies that we have become.
Those of you who call this "pussification" have no idea of the enormity of this problem. If you use the term, just do yourself a favor and google "Long March through the Institutions" and begin to understand how orchestrated this whole "demand for uniformity of thought" is.

Yes, but DKE used to actually own their property, they were the only ones that did, and they don't anymore

Organized marches by private individuals are not even remotely related to this situation.

Is Sam Houston "getting the D" considered a good or bad thing? Was that meant to be a positive or negative thing for Sam Houston? Then compare that to gays like Michael Sam. That's why some could consider it offensive. "Getting the D" was portrayed as a negative/bad thing and used to describe gay people as well as what would happen to Sam Houston.

I hate when I have to agree with "those people," but this country is becoming a joke.

There has always been this demand. Private companies have always been concerned with their image and how the public views them. The only difference is now with social media people can be much more vocal.
You're describing some scenario that sounds so much more dangerous than it really is. Political correctness isn't new. It has always been around. People just have more of a voice now than before.

The chapter was under pressure from local alumni, DKE National, and LSU. They didn't stand a chance and didn't have a choice.
Back in the olden days, before the national broadcast of everything that anybody could consider offensive, it was easy to get away with the signs; it was a campus joke and didn't go much further than that.
And honestly, there were several that were torn down within minutes of placement because they were completely filthy, even by DKE's own standards. But most would last the day if they were funny enough.
As for those in this thread who complain about Dekes being offensive and childish and tasteless, you've been around (providing entertainment to the chapter) in one form or another for many, many years.
And the more you bitch and complain and whine, the funnier it gets.

Political Correctness is just a lazy term for a key component of Cultural Marxism. It's a cynical strategy used to coerce those who dissent from the Holy Book Of American Liberalism.
It's not that the free speech in question is not assholeish or sophomoric. It's that the DEMAND that students demonstrate Uniformity Of Belief or face the consequences is counter productive to the very mission of a University. A University should not impose a certain Ideological Orthodoxy on it's student body. Sophomores should be allowed to be , well, sophomoric. There should not be a societal demand that the biggest dipshits on campus act like graduates of The Dr. Phil Finishing School For Wayward Nannies. Let the Dekes be Dekes and you be the awesome guy that you are.

First one I remember as a kid was in the early 90s. Something like "Hey Dye, don't you know Ramseys leak!" playing on Pat Dye, Eric Ramsey, and (what I didn't know at the time) Ramses condoms. Genius.
RIP DKE banners. Please don't say it's so.
