we need to pick our spots. florida can't drive down the field and score td's. they rely on the big play. we don't want to give them the explosive play.

at the same time, we do want to make trask uncomfortable.

I understand that. However, I’ll gladly give up a quick score over a long, sustained drive ala Texas’ 19 play drive when we sat back on our heels regarding play calling.

Ehlinger and Trask are different animals

Trask wasn't half the athlete before he hurt his knee. He also isn't the passer.

Expect blitzes from the edge. We have been extremely vanilla with our blitz packages. I think Aranda will earn his $$$ this week.

He's not going to go crazy with it and blitz every other down. That's worse than not pressuring at all.

In Trask's three starts he has 5 fumbles. Get to him and he will give us the ball

To be fair i think 3 of those were from Derrick brown.. we don't have anyone on his level.

I agree too!
It’s not like the lack of blitzing has really helped us limit the passing anyways. Might as well send em!!

Aranda will be selective in when to blitz. He's been doing this defensive coordinating thing for a long time. He's not going to go crazy with it and blitz every other down. That's worse than not pressuring at all.

My only issue with that is Trask is not a downfield threat QB. He's going to take the short passes and hope to break one. He's content to slowly move down the field. If we play to keep everything in front he will drive the field and wear our D down. He will also become more comfortable and confident.

You hit him early. Don't let him get comfortable. Even if we don't make the stop or get the sack, those hits accumulate and also lead to him making mistakes. We know that if we give up a big play our offense now has the ability to score right back.

I dont think the fumbles had anything to do with the player. Its not like he was stripped a la TM7. He’s just careless with the ball when he gets sacked
