I know Aranda isn’t really known for sending a lot of guys on every play. But in order to free up guys getting to the quarterback consistently, we have to start sending more bodies than they can block, we have to start stunting more, we have to start sending guys from different spots.

We’ll have an incredibly lively and loud atmosphere Saturday night, let’s put these cocksuckers to bed early by being relentless in going after them from the defensive side.

It will help that we will now have Chaisson and Divinity on the outside both healthy to rush the passer.

Trask isn’t mobile. Forcing him to move will be a key emphasis. But if they stick to quick passes, that won’t matter and extra pressure could hurt if we don’t guess right and take away his first option. So it’s not so simple.

I understand that. However, I’ll gladly give up a quick score over a long, sustained drive ala Texas’ 19 play drive when we sat back on our heels regarding play calling.

I think you need to mix it up. Blitz some and play coverage some. Try and confuse him. Let’s not forget he is still only going into his 4th start and first one on the road since middle school. The crowd will play a big part and I look for him to make a lot of mistakes.

I have ZERO confidence in Third and Aranda. Soft zones and scared to death.

Trask is shell shocked after getting pummeled by Auburn. He's wearing a brace and isn't a threat to hurt us running even though Mullen still had him run with the brace which I thought was stupid. He can be pressured into mistakes. We need to hit him early and often.

So, let's take a lot of chances?
This is not a great offense we are facing and we have close to our entire defense back.
Sure, mix it up and don't be predictable, but lots of gambling helps them, not us.

Just get Delpit and Stevens playing up near the LOS and have consistent pressure up the middle. I'm not convinced in Trask's ability to evade pressure with his knee injury, and their offense involves a lot of quick throws and screens to their receivers who all have the ability to bust a big play off a simple slant because they're all so fast. The defense needs to fly around, and I think Utah State was actually really good prep for what we'll see Florida do except USU has a really good QB and not so good WRs after their best dude went down on that crazy catch.

ETA: I'm not sure how much we'll have to send exotic blitzes to get pressure now that we'll be nearly fully healthy. seemed like Lawrence could've played last week, so he should be almost 100% this week. Divinity being back is huge. Neil Farrell has proven that he can create pressure as well

So, let's LOOK aggressive, not be aggressive?

It also gives their running game a better chance. I agree with O here. Stop their run, and we win easily. That means we won’t be any more aggressive than we have been.

I kind of disagree.

If LSU can get a consistent pass rush with 4 it's over for Florida.

Florida thrives off of the big play. By being aggressive you have a higher risk of giving up big plays.

With that said we should be aggressive in spots were the down and distance favor us.

Except for a few blitz packages in the 2nd half of the Texas game, Aranda hasn't shown what our defense is capable of, IMO.

I don’t know how much clearer I could’ve been in the OP. I said let’s be aggressive. As in when we have them at 3rd and 12 let’s send people after the quarterback instead of not sending guys and giving the quarterback 10 seconds to throw.

So you don’t know how to be more clear... yet you get more specific and clearer.

And really jumping out on a limb there by requesting a blitz on 3rd and long. How bold of you.

So, that's what you term "aggressive play calling"?

Well, I haven’t noticed us do a whole lot of that so far this year. Have you?

Need to move Trask off his comfortable spots.
If not and given time, he will find his receivers.
