I have concerns about ours. He has not been one in ten years and that was at a small school
Any thoughts?

You certainly have every right to be concerned. I’m optimistic though that there will be enough improvement to keep us in all of our big games.

This thread isn’t gonna age well…that’s my thought.

I think it's one of those deals that you could talk yourself into cautious optimism or concern. I think we can safely say that the defense will be better than last year.

The last coordinator has been a college coach forever and was terrible so experience obviously doesn’t mean everything. Of course I would like one with a little more experience than this guy but I am willing to give him a chance.
To me I believe for college defenses it’s more about talent than anything. Get the talent simplify the defense and just let them do what they have always done. Be freak athletes and make plays. Offense you can scheme up lesser talent to beat defenses but I don’t think you can do that for a defense.

Are you just concern about the defensive coordinator, the offensive coordinator has never been a coordinator either.
and you're not concern, I'm confuse

I, too, am concerned.
However, there are some things that give me optimism:
1. He seems like an intelligent guy
2. People praise his work ethic (anti-Pelini)
3. He has coached defense under a few great defensive minds (Aranda, Zimmer, etc.)
4. Players love him
and most importantly
5. He is surrounded by a lot of good and very experienced coaches on that side of the ball

If we can hold Miss St and Missouri type teams to under 700 yards it’ll be an improvement. So that shouldn’t be terrible right?

I could be wrong, but I feel like DC is more important and also more challenging than offense/OC. Especially at this level.
Not at all concerned about a new inexperienced OC. The impact of Brady in one season showed how successful LSU can be on offense.
I would definitely be more concerned about a DC who hasn’t really coordinated in quite a while, but I agree that we are kind of past all that. No need to have concerns now. Full steam ahead.

Just like that Musk guy never being an astronaut and thinking he can build rockets that land the same way they launch. No way he can do that ... right ?

Comparing Daronte Jones to Elon Musk.
The Rant never fails to amaze

He’s quietly building our defense back to what it once was. He’s not looking for spotlight he’s gonna let his product speak for itself in 60 days!

Improvement over the "Worst of all-time" LSU Defense, doesn't mean Good or Great, just better than last year.
There's no evidence that an NFL DB Coach can effectively coordinate a Defense in the SEC, make adjustments and get everybody on the same page with their assignments. It's all a big MAYBE.
Would have much preferred somebody that's actually done that in the last decade. Big gamble here.........

You’re disregarding his quality position coaches. That makes a difference, too.
