Defense was the most disappointing aspect last night.

Offense definitely wasn’t firing on all cylinders to say the leasr, but when your defense is giving up score after score in the first half, it’s hard to keep up.
The soft zone that Baker continues to try and play just blows my mind when you can clearly tell it isn’t working.
I know Chambliss is great, by my god we didn’t even try to make it difficult for him by playing so far off the receivers and them just picking us apart.
He has continued to have problems against good offenses or mobile QBs. This is his third opportunity to be able to stop Marcel Reed, who has torn us apart.
He has zero excuses now in his third year with an offensive-minded coach, especially with the money he is making.

Nah. Chambliss is a good qb, we tried to keep it in front and he took advantage.
Leavitt never quite settling and rushing throws to open receivers was a bigger deal for me.

I don’t know man I still think it was Leavitt and interior O-line.
Chambliss legitimately was making some throws/plays that there was absolutely nothing you could do.

So many people on here dont understand this. If LSU mounts one more good drive for a TD of 5-6 min we are looking at a 14-17 type score at half just due to the fewer plays/drives OM gets in the half. In sports metaphors this is equivalent to a tennis player not holding serve and getting walked over in a set.

I’m going to keep harping upon this. Go listen to Lane Kiffin‘s press conference. He said they played a soft zone intentionally to try to keep everything in front of them and contain the running back and quarterback. I mean seriously. I would think he knows more about stopping his own offense than anyone. When you lost Spears., who probably was one of your better open field tacklers and Smart football player.

He looked not great at all when we pressured him and GOAT when we didn’t, so why didn’t we pressure him all night, Coach Baker?

Baker has been overrated in his entire tenure here. His defense gets shredded in every big game we play in.

Baker had a poor game plan in the first half with that soft zone.
He should have made adjustments in the 2nd quarter.

I disagree. Leavitt's inaccuracy was the biggest disappointment to me.

The dumbasses of this board will defend Bakers inept defense after 3 seasons of never stopping a decent mobile QB, but will want to switch QBs after 1 loss while knowing he did not practice with the team until Fall. They are dumbasses and should be ignored.

Defense is allowed to be dog shite if the opposing teams QB is good.
I got bad news for some of you, LSU has to play other teams with good (mobile) QBs. Maybe not as good as Chambliss, but there’s plenty of reason for concern

Much bigger. If you told me Ole Miss had 24 points late in the 4th I would have assumed we were destroying them.

I agree that Leavitt and the O-line weren’t great and I wasn’t thrilled with the gameplan. They left a lot of plays on the field too with missed opportunities.
But when your defense is getting worked when you’re playing on the road, it only puts more pressure on the offense.
It’s been a common theme the last 3 years with Baker, and he’s had plenty of time to figure it out.
And this is only the third game of the season they are playing together as a unit and Leavitt didn’t even get to participate really in spring, so I’m more inclined to give them a pass.

How some don't see this is mind blowing to me. Not to mention how quickly he was getting the ball out at times as well. Chambliss was surgerical with has accuracy last night. He was placing passes between defenders or right on receivers where the DBs had no chance to make a play on the ball & allowed his receivers to have run after the catch. It was one of those Drew Brees type performances.

It wasn’t like Chambliss did a ton of running last night & Ole Miss didn't run a bunch of zone read keepers for him either. They held that one in their pocket for when they needed it most & played off of the defenders trying to be aggressive & make a play there.

Rushing 3 or 4 and not running a stunt 50% of the time is not ok. You have to do what ever is in your power to throw a wrench in a offense play design and timing and rushing confusion is key
