It's LSU and LSU's vet school. Not a gas station. Isn't LSU's facility as good or better than most Zoos? I've seen tigers at the Hattiesburg and Chatanooga zoos and those habitats weren't a quarter as nice as Mike's. It wasn't close.

Exactly.

A tiger should be so lucky.

LSU doesn’t want to be a zoo. It wants a certain status in that realm. Most zoos aren’t sanctuaries either.

This whole deal is about what status LSU wants and the limitations imposed on facilities with that status. Sanctuaries of the type LSU is/wants to be don’t take rescue animals. It’s not about what anyone is requiring of LSU generally to hold a cat as a bare minimum.

Who cares

I’m fine with being a zoo and not a sanctuary if that means we get a tiger on the field with sideline seats.

The cat gets to live in the Tiger equivalent of a penthouse suite with an all you can eat buffet.

The least it can do is chill for a few hours during a football game with better seats than I have

A tiger being pulled around in a cage no one more than 20 yards away can see into was that important to you?

I'm simply referring to LSU being a more desirable landing spot for a tiger. That would suggest that it won't get shut out in the future.

But that isn’t the question. It’s whether LSU can maintain the status it wants and procure a tiger.

I think they should run him out there like Ralphie the Buffalo.

OP's original convern was about the government blocking LSU from getting a tiger. Now you're saying it's about lsu only wanting a tiger if it can maintain some status that isn't a zoo or a rescue.

And yes, that’s what I’ve been saying. The Vet School wants to be more than a zoo or rescue operation. Certain parameters come with that.

What difference does it make for me if we are a zoo or a sanctuary?

I didn’t say you had to care. I for one support any piece of LSU becoming better as an institution. The vet school and its research are one of the best things the university does.

On the whole, I care about that more than a Gerry Lane advertisement.

The overall issue is being allowed to have a live tiger on campus at all!

The Feds can prohibit it!

You asked in a belittling way if it was that important to me.

I asked why it should matter if we are a zoo or a sanctuary.

You for all intents and purposes said that it does nothing for me personally if we are a zoo or sanctuary.

Conversely it’s a fun tradition that makes the experience at the stadium better if we do have a tiger at the game.

We patriots took care of that a few days ago

Don’t need to worry about that

Are you sure you want to die on this hill? IMO the feds worked very closely with Dr. Baker to ensure that everything was properly done with Mike VII.

I think this is Jeff Landry thinking he's Huey Long and it's 1934.

PETA protesters plan to peacefully assemble near the entrance. In the unlikely event that they gain access to the premises, a PETA protester may attempt to unlock the tiger cage as a means of demonstrating their perspective.

As an alumnus, I don’t know how I feel about having a tiger that’s not Mike in the stadium. To each his own.
