I don't know if I want Will Davis or Dean to get it though, because then we'll still keep playing these RPI anchor games every year as favors like we did when we played them on a weekend one year.

if Davis decided that he wanted to move on, I think he would be suitable for UNO, but he would come with a bigger price tag than Dean for sure.

And yeah LSU would keep on playing them, I think CPM wants UNO to be a bigger and better program because of his ties, but politics and public opinion within UNO won't allow it.

even if Tim Ryan supported it a commuter school full of LSU fans and nontraditional students was never going to vote it in.

It did not need to be put up for a vote. Ryan did that on purpose to see if it would fail when he had the power to up the fee without saying anything. It was calculated to kill the program.

The dagger that then led to consecutive conference championships and NCAA bids? False
You mean the conference tournament in 2007 in 2008. They won the tourny in '07, not '08. They never had a season championship since the 80s. Which is what I'm comparing them to. They got a 4 seed with the '07 win (auto) and a 3 seed in ''08 when they had a ton of that team return. But by then UNO was bleeding money due to Katrina. Hence the cuts and hence the dagger comment.

and Dean was playing minor league baseball.

Which isn't getting COACHING experience, that's my point.

Riser had 7 years of COACHING experience to Dean's 2. That's a gigantic difference.

They were a legit winning program, which is all most mid-majors seek to be. Now they are a corpse. But it wasn't because of Katrina since they would have survived all the cuts on the field if they didn't lose everyone and have D2 kids for three years. Besides, Jindal and the legislature are cutting state schools, and it also has nada to do with Katrina.

Can Southeastern keep climbing the ladder? They seem to have a good thing going there.

he's always been, but they'll pretty much be the same age should Dean get a job. Not that hard to understand.

I was always a big Blake Dean fan, but he is not ready for a HC job- needs more seasoning!

Ever since Dean hit well for us, some have thought he could do no wrong. It was to the point that whenever hitters would do anything well under Javi while Dean was here, the credit went to Dean as if he was overcoming Javi's failures. Dean has been a hitting coach for a brief period of time and there is no evidence that he's been anything special as one. I don't really see any reason to believe he's ready to be a head coach.

It's undeniable that UNO has a ton of problems but UNO isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The state would have to take on all of UNO's debt if they shut it down, they don't want to do that. While I do see tons of reasons to stay away from the UNO job, I do see a nice new stadium, an ok baseball conference and an area with good HS baseball. So maybe they can pull in a decent coach, probably not but I think they could do better than Dean or Davis

Actually that was back at McNeese. My nephew played for him in the season after they lifted the Interim tag '87 or '88. His only experience was a 1yr. GA/asst. to that point. As a former player he related well to the "kids" and ran a pretty tight ship as well.
