aranda will end up getting an NFL dc job soon and wait for Lord Eddard O of the southlands to flame out.

then he will return to reign.

LSU needs to do whatever it takes to retain him at any capacity

It's more than film room study & focusing on one part of the game (Head Coaching).

Hopefully he's game planning against our own offense for self-scouting.

I've always been against compartmentalization (in sports).

If O flames out in the next two years we don't need to look any further for his replacement

Do you think he ever looks back and says " man I over thought that?"

LOL, I think no. He's probably one of those people that if it doesn't workout, then there's more thinking to be done to tweak the original thinking for the next time. Overthinking, for him, is probably considered a lazy man's cop out.

Maybe Im naive or maybe I just expect too much but it was always my expectation that pretty much every coach at this level thinks and prepares this way. This seems like a pretty obvious and straight forward way to approach game planning and prep.

So is every other coach a raging dumbass?

No but even within hard working coaches, there are those that go to the next level. Or whom are just flat out better.

I wonder how big our opponents board was for Les's offense lol. Damn I can't wait to see Canada and Aranda getting the most out of our talent.

Not a raging dumbass. I would imagine that there are many who do not prepare in a way anything close to this. That there are the majority who do.

But human nature limits that majority (again, my guess). It is not in our nature to go into a level of detail past what we think is safe, normal, or (more importantly) adequate. So while many prepare in the same manner, how far do you go with it. Where is the mendoza line for being prepared.

The approach is a combination of statistical and football. I'm not commenting on the ability to do math, but commenting on how many coaches have you met (outside baseball) who will give equal weight to statistics and pattern analysis versus experience and gut. I doubt many of us can say many.

All this doesn't include the tendency to repeat what has worked in the past. If you assume that it worked in the past therefore it should work again, you just became predictable to your opponent (IF they are preparing in this manner). If you assume that if it worked in the past therefore statistically the chances of having a repeat are lower, you end up where Aranda is.

Idiots on this very board all agreed that it was too soon for him to be the head coach at mighty LSU. Like it was too much for him. Lol. Just wait till he leaves for a HUGE job and we are left with O. He should have been made the head coach and LSU should have been all in on his future there.

Aranda would have made a fine battlefield general.
