According to Pro Football Focus at least... found this interesting considering how much heat Etling got this season and how much praise Gage got. Not to say gage is a bad player, he did amazing this season... just think we sometimes take Danny Etling's talent for granted! Geaux Tigers :)

Full rankings for offensive starters this Monday:
Pos Name Overall (Pos. Rank)
C Will Clapp 86.5 (5)
HB Derrius Guice 85.3 (16)
T Toby Weathersby 84.5 (37)
HB Darrel Williams 82.6 (26)
WR D.J. Chark 82.2 (64)
QB Danny Etling 76.8 (88)
TE Foster Moreau 75.3 (57)
WR Russell Gage 74.2 (227)
G Edward Ingram 73.7 (164)
G Garrett Brumfield 71.9 (186)
T Saahdiq Charles 70.0 (216)

Etling’s stats are skewed by all of the bailout jump balls his wideouts won this year. He could easily have several more interceptions. Chark made some incredibly difficult catches, sometimes literally taking the ball from the DB in mid air

Those ranking are obviously flawed because Gage was immensely important to us this year. Pretty sure the PFF is ranking him based solely on WR stats. He was so much more to us than that.

Even if he had some luck on his side, he still did a pretty good job. Not all-star quality, but serviceable. He finished 5th in the SEC quarterback in QBR, ahead of guys like stidham and Patterson. Now yeah some of that is good receivers and luck. The other part is he is actually a good quarterback.

No it counts running and run blocking and all that. It factors everything

That’s complete BS if you believe what you just wrote because you don’t do this by jump balls. That is what YOU focus on. This has everything to do with Canada.
1. Danny Freaking Etling
- He’s one of just five to throw for 2,000 yards in consecutive seasons,
- one of 10 to crack 4,000 career yards and is second
- set the highest mark ever for an LSU QB In Int ratio and Number 2 all time in the conference.
- Number 12 in effenciency in the Nation.
- Number 5 in yards per completion in the Nation.

My point exactly. And even if Chark made some amazing plays, that just speaks to Danny's ability to put the ball in playmakers' hands

Gage was meh. Dropped passes. Best contributions came on jet sweeps and special teams

Yes, all some remember are the few big misses. Every QB has those.

How about all the drops? Like the perfectly thrown bomb against Bama that Chark failed to even touch?

The truth is that Etling is one of the many LSU football players who are radically misevaluated by the herd wisdom on the rant. He is a well above average college QB and an above average SEC QB. You will be surprised at the attention he gets from the NFL. I give him a 50% chance of makng a practice squad his first year.

It’s useful but it is still heavily subjective .

Etling finished with nice stats this year and played hard, but only one player knocked out Minkah Fitzpatrick with a nutscack to the head on a hurdle.

50/50 shot at making a practice squad one year is a bold prediction

So every QB in college? Manziel doesn’t have a Heisman without all the bailouts he won. Not comparing Etling and Manziel, but it happens with every Quarterback in college.

I hate seeing ignorant arse posts like this. A WR is supposed to catch the ball, regardless of it being a jump ball. The QBs job is to put it in the vicinity. Period. A completion is a completion. Period. Quit being a bleeding vag.

That's not right. You could put it in the vicinity of one triple covered WR, that doesn't mean it's on the WR if he doesn't come down with it.

He's going to be lucky to be invited as a "thrower" at the Combine.
