CBS released some excerpts from the hour-long show, including this from Danielson, the former NFL quarterback: “I am picking Florida-LSU in the (national) championship. Four teams from the SEC are in the top 10. I see Florida losing at LSU in that night game. LSU losing to Alabama. Florida will beat Alabama. No one goes undefeated. Two left standing, LSU and Florida play for the (national) championship.”
Danielson predicted Florida would beat Alabama in the SEC championship game and then face LSU in the Bowl Championship Series title game.

I like Danielson and Lundquist and would put them in my upper tier. Sure, either can get a little goofy at times or butcher a name but I think they do a good job. I don't just judge announcers by the degree to which they blow sunshine up the Tigers' arses, but they really have done plenty of that over the years.
My favorite play by play guy for football is Ron Franklin. " ... Ten ... Five ... Touchdown." When he says it, it just sounds a LOT cooler!
I can't really think of my favorite color guy for some reason. Used to love Frank Broyles, but that is going back some years. I actually like Bill Curry, but I realize I may have ruined my credibility with some by saying that! I like Blackledge fine and Todd Christenson is so bad that it's painful.

Danielson is Capt. Obvious. For all those that are fluffing him, you probably don't know much about football.
I am a Blackledge fan above all else, BUT Danielson is solid. No offense, Reb, but I'd be willing to bet I know more about college football than you. Pro football? Probably not.
Gotta love Spielman though. You're waiting for his co-worker to disagree with him and a beatdown to follow. He's kinda subdued but the dude is and will always be an animal.

Danielson said nothing negative whatsoever about Cox's play. He never even mentioned the obvious, that it was sheer luck that allowed Cox to get rid of the ball and not be called for intentional grounding.
But he called Jordan Jefferson's sack the result of a mental mistake.
My recollection is that he thought it was a safety -- that it was clear that he was throwing to no one -- thought it might be reviewed, and then used the telestrator to show that technically he was out of the tackle box.
The fact that it was not a good looking play on Cox's part was pretty obvious.

Danielson's still mad, because he couldn't figure out how to make Rennie Curran player of the game.
Lundquist screwed up the opening royally!
I hate them!

Danielson picked LSU and Florida to play in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME this year, yet dumbass LSU fans try to convince themselves he hates the Tigers.

Danielson is solid. I get mad at some of the things he says, but that's mostly just my inner LSU fan coming out.
My real favorite would have to have been when Terry Bradshaw called the Sugar Bowl (I think?) in 07.

Ha Ha!!! That is very true - he was gushing all over him. I had somehow thought Tebow had put on a GA jersey and got in the game.

Yeah, but asccording to jdyesslsu's post, he used some pretty goofy logic when figuring that all out. No team ever found the favor of the BCS if they lost in the SECCG or didn't make it at all. A USC or an OU or a ND always seems to sneak in.

I agree. I was shocked at how good Bradshaw was in that game. I loved it when he said "have fun big fella" right before JR threw one of his 58 yarders, which Bradshaw knew was coming because of the D the Irish were in. I couldn't believe they didn't put him in the booth more after that performance.
On the original topic, I really like Danielson. For those saying he's Captain Obvious, it is his job to be obvious most of the time, because most fans don't know crap about football. Hell, half the time I make a comment to whomever I'm watching the game with, only to have the announcer make the same comment a few seconds later. The fact that I noticed what the announcer noticed doesn't make his point any less relevant.

I dont like him personally, but not because I think he's biased. He annoys me. Each and every play, instead of just commenting on the action, he feels the need to give a clinic or explain why this or that was done. Every once in a while would be fine, but every fricking play he has to "teach" us something.

Just means you've probably watched a lot of football.

To Gary Danielson,
Thanks for your recent post.
BTW: he and his partner, Chuckles the Clown, are not a cohesive team. But, admittedly, few of the announcers teams today do not bring their "A" game. There are so much "human interest" stories that are programmed it, that little time is taken for actually reporting the events in the game. And, how many times do the announcers miss a penalty flag when going to commercial break, etc.
Most announcers don't have an appreciation for LSU football; they enjoy the tailgating and the crowds of people, but they don't understand the passion of the people who show up in Baton Rouge for a game. The Saturdays in Baton Rouge are a way of life not just a football game.

I have a lot of respect for Danielson's read on the game. I actually feel like I'm learning when I listen to him describe plays and strategies.

I agree. He's seems very pro-LSU to me. Any time he chews on them it seems that he's frustrated that they aren't playing better. He is way better than the d-wads at ESPN. Well I guess Blackledge is ok. The ESPNU commentators are awfull as are the CBS inside college football guys. Danielson at least knows what he's talking about and watches the games.

Other than the fact that Danielson sometimes sounds like a traffic cop doped on valium.
I like him ok and he does make some good points!
The unfortunate thing is that he is guilty by association because he has to come into my home in high definition standing beside Vern (F'ing) Lundquist, who is the biggest anti-LSU P.O.S. that has ever lived!!!!

Or like when he goes on and on about a QB not being out of the tackle box in the nedzone when there is a receiver 10 feet from where the ball landed. He gets things stuck in his head and runs with them even when they are wrong ("paper tigers" anyone?)
