I do not understand why anyone thinks that JD5 was an above average QB. From what I have seen he is not one to win a championship. He cannot pass effectively

Agree. Tennessee showed shut down JD's run game and he can't beat you with his arm. We barely beat a terrible Arkansas team, lost to a dismal A&M team. And everyone knows what Georgia did to us.

Maybe he'll have more time in the pocket with an experienced O-line this year, but it seemed even when he had time AND open receivers this year that he chose to tuck and run with it. Hopefully he improves his downfield passing game in 2023.

I'm looking at the stats.

Are you counting the A&M play where he should have handed the ball to Emery, who was open for a ten yard gain, but instead he held the ball, fumbled and sealed the A&M victory.
I hope he has improved his passing and decision making for the coming season. If so we have a chance to repeat as West Champion.

I don't hate JD, I just don't think he's as good as some on here make him out to be.

I'm not one to jump off and on the bandwagon so quickly. I think he's great with his feet, but too flighty sometimes.

Hopefully he has more faith in his O-line and receivers next year.

I think we need a pass first, run second qb.

JD had a really good season, but it was a selfish one. Trading not throwing INTs for taking drive killing sacks is exactly the same thing.

People pretending like Daniels was selfish are fricking dumb.

He absolutely needs to pass down field more.l and stop hesitating, but selfish is just a dumb complaint.

Its the fact that he would have been 3rd team. If either Nuss or JD left, Howard would have stayed. If he couldn't have beaten Nuss out, then why are people panicking? They are 1 year apart.

He transfered to a school he could easily be 3rd string at.

Weird move if that’s his biggest concern and not that Nuss could be here 3 more years.

It'll be interesting if Dart stays after springs. The thought is that he leaves (forced out). It's odd that LK would give up on him after one year. He had a better year than Burrow in '18 sans INTs.

But yet you fail to mention the defense saved our arse in Miss State Arky and Auburn games.

That is utterly beside the point. You act like Daniels caused LSU to lose 4 games this season. He did not. There is no reason to believe LSU cannot have a better record with him at QB next year with better and more consistent play from the defense and special teams.

You do realize LSU was 6th in the country in first downs, right? How many drive killing sacks did he really have?

Even stranger that so many fans, who said he was nothing special, would be concerned about where he transferred or where he is ranked at Ole Miss.
If he is not talented enough to play at LSU wouldn't you like for him to start at one of our opponents.

So we're back to hoping the defense and special teams will win games for us instead of the offense?

That you, Les?

No we’re back to hoping defense won’t let A&M run all over them and hoping special teams wont completely blow games by muffing returns, allowing their returner to run downfield often l, having multiple short FG blocked in a 1 point game.

Where he ended up counts for a lot. Speaks about the Howard clan's thought process and his value on the open market.

If he signed with Georgia or Ohio St I think the consensus opinion would be that we really screwed the pooch. Him signing with Ole Miss to me sounds like he was sweet-talked into a decision that may blow up in his face.

I wouldn't trust my career with Lane Kiffin given that he's entertaining outside offers every season. Brian Kelly isn't perfect but has a hell of a lot more integrity than Lane Kiffin.

You do realize they gave up 38+ points in three of the losses and had so much trouble getting FSU off the field that the offense only had 7 possessions in the game combined with multiple special teams mistakes against FSU, Tennessee and Georgia, right? You don’t really think offense cost them those games, do you? I wasn’t suggesting they win games 10-7. I was suggesting holding the opponent under 24. That’s what it will take to be a title contender.

He can anywhere he wants. He'd have to wait a year. Unless he can graduate quickly.

Fair point on special teams, but that's a lot of blame on the interior of the defense that had very few bodies this season, and not enough on the guy that struggled to throw to open receivers all season.

I don't think it's selfishness. It's not trusting his eyes and being just a bit slow in processing and reads. He may not trust that the hole is there for the RB and pull the ball when he should release it. I think he'll be more comfortable next season and the line will give him more time to make decisions.
