I would honestly challenge Jayden to throw an interception this week. I know it sounds dumb but force him to take risks. He needs to learn first hand that taking a risk doesn't end up a pick or negative play every time...

Well what's even more unsustainable is having Nuss in to break the season record for pick 6's either. We're getting better and at least the coach realizes there is a problem along with Jayden's strengths. I know some people can't believe it, but the JD is the best quarterback on this team. Right now there is a huge gap between 1st and 2nd.

It's amazing how much of a strawman people like to make out of this discussion. If you think there is a large gap in what Daniels is bringing that needs to be addressed, then that means you want him benched. Unless we are getting totally shut down offensively at some point because he can't make reads and he is getting spied into oblivion, then nah I don't want that to happen.

But a 200 yard passing, 100 yard scrambling statline from our QB is not going to be enough when SEC competition gets going, especially if we don't have a reliable ground game yet.

This.

Yes, it would be nice to see him be more willing to the ball out quicker or hang in the pocket just a beat or two longer to let a WR clear, but the flip side is he is not putting the ball in danger of a turnover with a poor throw. He's also routinely picking up 10, 15, 20 yards while NOT risking an INT.

Football is the most team reliant game. A QB can be great, individually. But if he is getting pressure up the middle or doesn't fully trust his protection, human nature is going to kick in and he will go into self-preservation mode. For a QB who isn't mobile, that is trying to get the ball out quicker or just throwing it away. For a mobile QB, he can run.

Daniels has two true freshman tackles. He has had a new OL combination in each of his ONLY 3 games (to date) at LSU. So I can see while he, right now, doesn't fully trust his protection and feels he has to get through things quicker with the fallback of "just take off" if his first read doesn't come open immediately.

The encouraging part in the MSU game is (1) he (and the offense) seemed to become more comfortable as the game went on and (2) LSU looks to have found its current starting 5 on the OL to build off of. I think people have to realize this is a team with many new players, coached by new coaches who, before the FSU game, never coached most of these guys in a game situation. There is no preseason in CFB, so the coaches and players are learning their strengths and weaknesses as the early games are being played.

Let me first say I think Daniels is the QB that gives this team the best chance to win this season. But he has already had 31 starts. Do you think his previous coaches just weren't coaching him? I think those of you expecting significant growth are fooling yourselves. Those first two clips he looked at WIDE open receivers sometimes his very first read and just didn't throw it. It is baffling bad QB play.

Very likely this is the 1st time this kid has been really, really coached. Would not shock me if he’s back next year.

Conditioning and the 4th Qtr performance really stands out for this team.

Back to back passes behind Mason Taylor in the red zone left me scratching my head. Other than that I'm alright with what I've seen. He's only going to get better.
I do feel he needs more air under his tosses though.

I’ve read everyone’s comments. What is see is for the first time in 17years we finally have a coach. Set back and enjoy the process. LSU is headed to the promised land sooner than most expected.

I think Kelly is like most people in the US. We don’t see black and white. We are a gumbo!

We are abysmal at getting passing yards.
We are 120th in passing yards per completion and 105th in passing yards per attempt.
In the 2 real games we have played we have 3 passing plays over 18 yards.

I dont care if he white, black, or pink. I just want us to be successful at getting passing yards when the qb throws the ball. At this point we arent.

He understands you don’t want to handcuff a guy like Daniels because he gets consistent yards, but if he doesn’t list it rip we won’t get those huge chunk plays.

The other huge benefit to Daniels finding the right balance will be the passing game making it even easier for him to run without getting hit. The more the defense has to respect the ability to hit big plays in the passing game, the more it opens up space for him to take easy yards on the ground with little to no contact.

I have said previously that if he could see the field this team contends for the West. He does not see things very well at all. Maybe CBK can teach him to see, but that remains to be seen. People are so touchy. If Daniels starts making big throws regularly, then the safeties have to loosen up. Suddenly it will be off to the races. As it stands now, he is holding the offense back. This is the unpleasant truth that many seem reluctant to discuss. He is a fourth-year starter. When will the light go on?
