Dick.

Nobody is using one game, but the Cotton Bowl was a great example of what is to come. Ware busted through the wrecking crew defense like a hot knife through butter. He hits the hole hard and he can catch the ball out of the backfield as well. I never said I did not like Ford. Ford is great. I'm just really excited about watching Ware develop. He has the size and speed and intangibles to be a real talent and maybe a hardware collector for LSU.

I'm not worried about offense. Out of all the players we lose, I believe that Shep will be missed the most. We begin next season against one of the most explosive offenses in football without our proven defensive signal caller.

The depth chart doesn't matter right now. And trying to bring the Dandy one to task about saying Ford over Ware is quite stupid. LSU is lucky to have both and both will contribute next year. It is a no lose situation. You read his page for free, or are you a contributor? I doubt it. Just quit reading his free sight.

You seemed outraged that Don would put Ford ahead of Ware on the depth chart. If Ware had done it thoughout the whole season, i could see your point, but it was 1 game. And FWIW, I think Ware will end up as the better of the 2.

I agree.

I think both backs bring completely different running styles to the table.
As long as we see both running backs play next year a good bit I will be thrilled!

I agree we are lucky to have both. I was not outraged that Ford was projected by DD to be in front of Ware just curious to hear the rant's take on DDs opinion. Apparently I struck a nerve with some DD fans. I have nothing against DD either. Again, I am just very interested in seeing what these guys can do. My prediction from watching Ware this entire season, not just in the Cotton Bowl, (although that helped and I'm certainly not going to ignore it) is Ware will be the starter. Seeing his ability of the field and the fact that Ridley is going to the NFL leads me to believe that he will end up as the starter. We will see

I agree with Doc, Ware put a major hit and score on a guy in either McNeese or ULM (not that it makes him all that but it was impressive)

Ware took it to people this year. I think Ford will be awesome though. I think he was overly exicted and lost his balance on a couple of runs this year but killed it as well v ULM I think.

hilarious so many people are sleeping on ford now because he had a quiet bowl game. think of his runs against florida, alabama, monroe, ole miss, arkansas. if ware does play baseball ford has a leg up going into spring. fact is we have a couple of studs here and there certainly shouldn't be much of a drop off if at all. i think we'll even see them on the field together at times.

I am happy you see it the way I do. I had a guy I work with in my hip pocket at work raving about Ford over Ware all day. Ford is a 3rd down back. He can catch, runs fast, and like to bounce outside. He can't get short or tough yards, can't break tackles, and doesn't seem to like contact(speculating on the last one about contact). All these intangibles make him suspect for the starting and full time running back position for LSU. Sure he would tear stuff up for ULL the Green Wave!

I think I agree with Dandy Don. I think both backs are great. Ware had a great game at the Cotton Bowl. But Ford had a great game against an Alabama defense that is much better than the defense LSU played against in the Cotton Bowl.

Ford only had 13 yards vs Alabama. I forgot which game it was where he stepped out of bounds on a TD run, was that it?

I'm cool with a 1a and 1b when the backs are this good. Each player brings something a little different. Assuming we run the ball approximately 400 times in 2011, getting 1700 to 1850 yards, there's room for two backs each getting 750 to 800 yards.

I watched that reel of offensive plays from the cotton bowl. I like Ford a lot, but Ford looked quite lost in blitz pickup/pass protection.

Ware didnt stay in the pocket during enough pass plays for me to judge how he did.

I also noticed when Ford was in the game he was hit in the backfield several times. Poor blocking on certain plays may have led to his uninspiring performance in the cotton bowl

My opinion: Who cares who's the "starter." The running back position isn't like QB, most teams don't just play one RB the entire game. Both Ware, Ford, and I'm sure someone else with get carries in every game.
