Will the attorneys for them file any pleadingds tomorrow to keep the pressure on?
Posted on 9/7/26 at 10:20 am to JimTiger72
Probably waiting for that fed case to get thrown out this week

So, you're bailing on these guys?

I think lane waits for the federal court weighs in. That and other schools to do the same and bring back players who tried out for pros

Why let it go?
Those guys deserve a fair shake, we left room for them and we play La Tech and clearly all the noise didn’t affect our guys

Agreed. And I think that their attorneys know that time is not on their side.

They literally have no other place to go to play if they can't play here. Per the NCAA, a player can only go through the portal once. Same for the NFL, a player can only be drafted once.

Last week, the support for these players was unanimous. Now that we've had a great game, they're easily discardable.

We made the choice not to roster them at the deadline after having as much cover from the Louisiana court system as we could reasonably expect. The SEC will probably end up dropping the suit, reading between the lines we made the decision not to pursue it further. Whether or not we should let it go is a decision for Kiffin, Rousse, Ausberry, etc and their risk tolerance, and it appears that we decided it was prohibitively risky.

Yep.
Helping these guys out is the right thing to do.
Doing the right thing is never the wrong thing.

Everybody talks about what Lane is going to do on this, but I have to believe that the president of LSU and Verge will be decisionmakers not Lane. Too big of a deal for the coach to decide something with such massive repercussions.

They don't consider it until they have full legal cover.
And last I saw reported, that action has not been docketed as of yet in Birmingham.

Agreed 100%.

We made a choice to leave two spots open to have them added later.

I wouldn’t call having a pending federal lawsuit reasonable cover from the court system.

I think they are going to see if they can get the federal lawsuit thrown out on the grounds that were discussed this week. They seem to have a reasonable expectation that it will.
If it gets thrown out then we roster them.
ETA:
I think the statement from their attorney made it clear that they get it as well.
It’s not fair to the other 103 guys on the team to have the SEC suspend Kiffin for 6 games trying to take a chance. At the same time they have to see that we are clearly pushing hard to take care of them.
Could they help us? Yeah sure.
But it’s clear that some of this is a personal thing because they are Kiffins old guys. We didn’t leave a spot for the Utah player

I meant Louisiana court system but your point is well taken. We'll probably find out more tomorrow when holiday weekend ends if they're still on campus/in Baton Rouge but I don't expect it.

Agree 100%.
In a way I’m glad it is going down this way. We get to show the college football world how awesome we are WITHOUT them.

You’re like the third or fourth person I’ve seen mention a hearing this week. Which hearing are you talking about? Because I don’t think the federal court hearing has a date yet. At least from what I can see.

If they are enrolled at LSU, Wright and Harris did not have to be rostered by the Friday deadline. It is my understanding that both were enrolled. If true, LSU can add them at LSU's convenience.
As for the federal court action.
On September 3, the Complaint was filed in the U.S.D.C. for the N.D. Alabama. The Court issued Summons the same day to the Defendants: LSU, LSU Board of Supervisors, Rousse, Ausberry, and Kiffin. This is standard practice as the Summons are drafted by, and served at the direction of, Plaintiff's counsel.
The Defendants have 21 days from date of service to file responsive pleadings. There has been no return of service, so we don't know when that countdown starts.
The Defendants have not yet filed responsive pleadings. I would expect the responsive pleading to be a joint motion to dismiss.
On September 4, the Court issued its standard "INITIAL ORDER GOVERNING ALL FURTHER PROCEEDINGS - with appendices attached. Signed by Judge Annemarie Carney Axon." Judge Axon's Initial Order There is nothing magical about this Initial Order. Nearly all district court judges have initial orders or something similar.
COMCLUSION: If the players are enrolled, LSU can add them to the roster at any time. Nothing is happening with the federal lawsuit.
