Any average/above average players from the state at other D1 programs right now that we might get to transfer here?

Louisiana sucks as far as basketball talent

I get that, but that was CMM's game plan last year. Would be our best insight for what's to come next year.

Louisiana not exactly a major basketball player producing state.

Can’t even remember the last time there was even a 4 star recruit out of LA.

Not great since our transfer strategy so far has mostly been guys from Louisiana or guys that McMahon previously coached, and the latter is running dry.

This whole "3rd most NBA players per capita" is nonsense.
There are 11 current NBA players born in Louisiana. However, most of them didn't even attend HS in Louisiana.

Kelly Oubre- Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nevada)
Thaddeus Young- Mitchell (Memphis, Tennessee)
Amari Bailey- Sierra Canyon (Los Angeles, California)
De'Aaron Fox- Cypress Lakes (Katy, Texas)
Dexter Dennis- Believe Prep (Athens, Georgia)
Aaron Holiday- Campbell Hall (Los Angeles, California)

Not to mention, most of these guys are scrubs in the NBA. This whole NBA players per capita argument is utter bullshite.

Outside the last couple years which I admit has been meh, teams like Baylor, Houston and even AM have snagged up some very productive players. Let’s not forget Reese beekman at Virginia, and the big boy from challmette is not on that list. And if you think players like Fox and young are scrubs then you have never watched them

Im obviously not talking about fox. I’ve been in the smoothie king and seen him drop damn near 50 on the pelicans.

I left off other players from Louisiana who are scrubs. Garrett Temple for example (respect and love him but he’s washed atp)

Well technically Corey Chest (4 Star PF in '23 class) is from New Orleans. He just went to play at Link Academy in Missouri.

It ebbs and flows. We fielded a final four team almost exclusively from the Baton Rouge area. I would bet if you could land the top 2-3 players from the state every year and add one from out of state you would have a darn nice team.

That's 20 years ago now. Less of an ebb and flow and more of a likely unrepeatable historical fluke.

The problem is LSU is a mediocre program so even if Louisiana did produce multiple high major recruits keeping them home in the NIL era isn't likely. Basketball can't put a fence up like football.

Lsu barely recruited its state after baby and that crew. Let tweety carter, lace Darius Dunn, Jared butler, Rico gathers, beekman, Markel brown, I’m sure I’m missing a few all these guys are 4stars or better too

Why are we talking about where someone was born? That has little relevance. Where you grew up is more important.

That's my exact point as to why this NBA player per capita bullshite is nonsense. Most of the players born in Louisiana didn't grow up or attend high school here. That's my entire point
